My controller disconnects from the app when trying to program buttons. Why? will not program.

I programmed profile one for Apex Legends. I then went to program a second profile. The app keeps saying the controller has been disconnected and will not let me program the buttons for the second profile. Is there something that I can do to rectify this problem? Does it only have one programmable setting? I need help I just got this controller 2 hours ago.
