My Razer Blade 15 Base (2019) gets stuck at startup splash screen with empty nvme drive installed | Razer Insider

My blade 15 is stuck on splash screen when i have a fresh Crucial p3 plus 1tb nvme ssd installed. I cant open bios settings, recovery, or boot options.

Ive tried resetting bios by removing cmos and putting it back in

Ive tried the power button reset

Ive tried using a razer recovery usb drive

The bios will open with no drive installed, and the original ssd will boot, the issue only happens with a new, clean ssd installed.

The drive is not faulty, it will work if its plugged in by usb enclosure, but not the main nvme slot

I am experiencing the same issue. Did you manage to solve it?

I’m experiencing the same issue.

Clean, new Crucial p3 plus 1tb nvme ssd that I’m installing.  I even tried a 2nd replacement ssd (same model).  If the new ssd is plugged in, the system freezes at boot screen.  Can’t get into BIOS, none of the options work.  If i remove the new drive and place the old ssd in, the system works perfectly.

  1. BIOS are up to date, v1.03, Razer Blade 15 Base Model (Mid 2019)
  2. SATA is set to AHCI
  3. Turned off secure boot
  4. Tried both with CSM enabled and disabled

If I remove the new ssd and put in the old one, system works properly again.

I had the same model and the same problem with the Kioxia XG7 1TB NVMe SSD. After trying many solutions, the only fix was to replace it with a Samsung SSD, which worked fine. It seems Razer laptops, or at least this model, only work with Samsung ssd. It's frustrating that Razer didn't warn us about SSD compatibility.
