my razer devices stopped working after installing syapse beta and cortex | Razer Insider
Skip to main content

My peripherals were connected to USB 3.0 SS ports until today.

Today I’ve decided to install razer cortex and surprise, after a bit of time. My razer devices connected to those ports stopped working completely for 15 minutes.

Then they got back alive, and then completely unusable on those ports. (Not fixed)

So I tried connecting them to my other USB ports on the back of the case.

They work fine.

So I tried connecting my Kinect to those 3.0 aforementioned ports. It works, but the Kinect is not powered by usb ports, it has a stand alone power supply.

I got this error in the device manager in windows:

The “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)”

Ok. I’ve tried uninstalling cortex, uninstalling every razer app, completely reinstalling windows, and formatting my SSD

My razer usb devices don’t work with those 3.0 ports, not even in the BIOS.

Note that I also installed razer synapse beta today, and updated all my devices, but it seemed to work fine before cortex.

I have updated my BIOS. Nothing to do.

Also note that my external HDD was apparently being recognized through those USB 3.0 ports.

Now I’ve tried holding “ESC + Caps + Space bar” on my razer huntsman v2 to reset it… and… now it gets detected only by the ports that are not 3.0, but it won’t work even with them.  It gets recognized by my pc tho with those ports.

it has the default ripple effect and when I use the FN key the buttons that should light up are completely wrong.

They keyboard lights up with even those 3.0 ports now, even if it doesn’t get recognized.

For short:

Razer naga pro: only work on ports that aren’t my 3.0s and on the motherboard io panel

Razer huntsman v2 tenkeyless: doesn’t work in general after reset. Only gets recognized by ports that aren’t my 3.0s on the io panel. It lights up on every usb port (even the 3.0s)

Razer siren emote: identical situation to the naga pro one
