Overheating - what are my cooling options?

Hey there,

I’m using a Razer Blade 15 Base 2020. I know overheating seems to be a universal issue with these laptops but is there any way to counter it?

I’m getting 90C to 100C core temps and 85C to 102C for GPU - even on pretty old games, e.g. Frostpunk from 2018.

I was looking at a cooler pad or an external cooling fan but from feedback here and elsewhere it seems that doesn’t really make much difference.

Was looking at undervolting but that seems to be blocked now.

Is there anything that will actually work for this laptop? The temps it reaches are insane sometimes - surely given the cost of this beast there’s some kind of plan for cooling it down??

I have a Razer Blade 15 2022, and it gets hot even in sleep mode.

Your only option is to buy a laptop cooling pad.

Be warned though, the Razer Blades have a design flaw in conjunction with some cooling pads. Specifically if you’re using the best laptop cooling pads — which have foam-pad seals — the laptop sinks into the foam padding, and obstructs the back exhaust ports == overheating. Watch out what cooling pad you buy.
