Philips Hue Lights and NanoLeaf Issues | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Hey everyone!

I just wanted to see if there was anyone else having these issues and if there might be any suggestions on what to do, and also to report issues if there are some.

So first with the Hue Lights. It seems as if Chroma enabled games will not take advantage of them anymore, I'm not sure if it was a Synapse update the broke this or on Phillips side, but the lights will dim and come back on when switching to a Chroma enabled game like they should, but they refuse to actually do anything. For example with Overwatch, they would react based on the character selected or what's going on ingame. It's worked before but now they will just stay at whatever settings are set up in the Chroma Studio and not react to the game.

Now with the Nanoleaf, there seems to be an issue with the software finding them and I have to manually select the IP, not a big deal but if the IP changes down the road it will be annoying to keep channing the information.

The next issue I have is, Synapse will not take over the Nanoleafs unless I open the Modular app in Synapse and once that happens, it will then connect and take over.

The last issue I seem to have with them is, if I make any changes or move them inside the Studio area, the lights will no longer work with Chroma Enabled games, I have to do a full system reboot for them to start working. Everything else will work just fine, just connecting with games requires a restart if I make any changes to the device inside of Synapse.

UPDATE: After further testing, it seems like the Nanoleafs will just stop working after a minute. Just seems to be the game connection as the Studio settings will work without any problems on both devices.

All other connected devices like Thermaltake will work, just the official Hue and Nanoleaf seem to be having trouble communicating.

Thanks all for any suggestions you may have or if this seems to be an issue with others too, I hope it will be fixed soon. Really love having Synapse controlling all my devices.
Hey there! Thanks for posting your concern on our Support board. Have you tried replicating the issue to a different computer? Please sign in as a guest or try using a dummy Razer Synapse account and see the difference.
So after a few days of more testing, I think I fixed most of the issues. Seems like some old data was left behind from Synapse so I did a full wipe.

The issues I'm having, tested with an account, no account and other computers is sometimes the Hue Lights seems to get stuck in a busy status after closing a game that integrates with Chroma Effects. I will have to switch the hub back on in the Hue Settings to gain control back.

With the Nanoleaf, the issue with game integration is still a problem and there are a few other reports you can find on this forum about it too. The issue seems to be that after the computer has been on for a few minutes, game integration just stops working for them all together. If I launch a game that supports them as soon as the system boots, no problems. If I leave the system to sit or if the color just hangs too long on one color in game, they will freeze on the last color shown and never work again with a game integration until a reboot happens. Studio Effects have 0 problems though.

Every other issue I was having seems to be resolved with a full clean install.

I am running the latest 3.3.3 firmware update on the Nanoleafs too, it fixed my issues with Synapse not finding them and having to manually add the IP every time Synapse started.

Thank you for keeping me updated. And yes, a clean installation of Razer Synapse is the troubleshooting that we can apply for this issue to isolate/resolve the issue. Should the issue persists, feel free to send me a PM should you need further assistance.
