Philips hue problem (doesn’t save chroma studio preset)

I have a problem with my lights. When I close the razer software, the lighting effect I had configured in the studio chroma does not save. Does anyone have the same problem as me and know how to fix it?

I have the same issue. Configuring the Hue lighting in Chroma Studio does apply to the lights themselves, so I know the Hue connection is working, but the changes are not properly saved and are lost regardless of how many times I click the Save button.

Closing and reloading Synapse, rebooting the computer or simply changing to another Chroma profile causes the saved changes to vanish from the profile and the Hue lights to turn off. The only way to ensure that the Hue lights continue to function is to remain on the same profile while the computer is running, and reconfigure the profile manually every time I reboot.

Hi there! This is normal behavior unless your Philips Hue device has onboard memory and capable to store Chroma lighting settings. Else, it will show its default color scheme. However, not saving the Chroma settings/effect on Razer Synapse 3.0 is running is something else.

I just set up some hue lights and bridge on my system and they work great until I restart my pc. I then have to go into synapse and activate the hue bridge and re-select my light effects (which is particularly annoying since I use ambient awareness so each light has a different area of the screen to select). Surely this isn't normal behavior, is it? I should be able to just post on my pc and everything syncs up Sotomayor, right?

I'm having the same problem... everytime I chage profile or reboot my pc, two of my 3 lights resets and doesn't turn on, I have to re apply the changes everytime...

Same problem here... Synapse updated to version 3.6.415.40812 today... Nothing changed.

I tried all this too and more. Do not waste your time any longer.

3.6.415.42101 Problem still present
What's the point of constantly Razer with PM this problem everyone has and you can test that yourself quite well.

Synapse updated today to version 3.6.430.42101. Problem still present BUT somehow I managed to keep Philips Hue settings this time:

I applied the effect and saved the preset as usual. Problem still present. After various attempts I just loaded the preset, added an empty, unmodified static effect at the bottom of the list and saved: preset working correctly.

I hope what I've written is comprehensible and helpful.

Yep agreed 100% - not sure if they really even want to fix it? No idea. Seems a lot of fluff for PR but they don't care if sales still roll in.

Exact same problem here tested after updating to 3.6.430.42101 and a computer restart.

I'll be very happy if this does get fixed but such as shame it's been around 2 months of this issue since it was reported.
I have the same issue and I've gone through this with Razer Support and after giving them various information and tests, I received the following update:


With the information that you have provided, and after carefully attempting to reproduce your issue, our Development Team identified that the behavior of your software is caused by external factors outside of our team’s means. This means that there may be third party software installed or corrupted files on the operating system that is affecting your Razer Software to behave this way.
...
1. Uninstall/Reinstall Synapse (Recommended)
2. Install/Uninstall any latest Mac OS or Windows Update
3. System Maintenance
4. Reset/Reinstall/Repair Operating System. (Only recommended for Razer Systems; Razer Blade etc.)

You can also reformat your computer or re-install Windows to make sure that there are no third-party applications or drivers that are conflicting with Synapse. Rest assured that the issue has been looked into and should be fixed with future Synapse updates.

Don't bother wasting your time any further is all I can say. I wouldn't recommend purchasing any other Razer products and I urge you to go out and recommend the same to others.

The fact that you and I have been able to reproduce this in seconds with out of the box Windows 10 installations and for myself doing this on completely different hardware with the same results proves that it is extremely easy to replicate. The only part of my system that is the same is the Nvidia graphics card - which I find hard to believe to be related as it's non RGB also.

In addition I have even tried new Hue Play bars.

I would bet a large amount of money that I could walk into any house with Hue play bars and Razer Synapse - as one example and replicate the issue under 5 minutes.

OpenRGB is the future, but it has a bit of a way to go yet.

Razer would rather design straws then fix this issue 😉

I think I've found a workaround (Version 3.6.430.42101)

1) Modify Hue devices settings in a Chroma Studio preset and save
2) Load another preset
3) Reload the modified preset
4) Add any layer (and delete it if you want)
5) Save.


It works! A big thanks to them!

I have a similar problem and have tried the above workaround.

After editing an effect in the 3 hue play bar, if I load another preset or lock windows, one or more saved effects are lost.

I have seen this problem on two different PCs and reinstalling synapse 3 did not solve the problem.

I checked the "<EffectLayer>" using LaurenceGough's description of the lighting profile, and I'm concerned that the Hue entry is missing in those brackets.

As for the workaround: it's not so important, but I found out that it still works if you hide and show a preexisting layer instead of adding and removing a new one.
Has anyone found a definitive solution to this issue? I have tried a couple without much success. I also ensured that the version I had installed was 100% removed and even installing a fresh new version from the Razer website which didn't make any difference really.

Appreciate any help with this, really painful to see my Hue lights all gone every time my mouse wakes up from sleep.

I have come back to my computer to find an update for Razer Synapse. It appears that the latest update has fixed my issue. Now the profiles are saving normally.

Hopefully this means it has also been fixed for others.
