I tried to shut down my computer, but the Razer App Engine windows is causing issues and preventing the computer from shutting down. Can you help me correct this?

Same problem here, it hangs on shutdown for few seconds, and than shuts down. I updates to latest version still same on Win 11 and Win 10. Fresh Win install on both systems so it’s 100% Synapse problem.

Reported problem months ago, but still nothing. I guess they don’t know how to fix it.

@Thermaltake868 Your're completely wrong about this [from Razer's point of view], because as they state it “it is an expected behavior as the Razer AppEngine is still running in the background” 😂😉

Yeah right… how come all other programs on Windows that are shutting down don't have this behavior?

And, how come that Synapse v3 is also not having this issue.

It should be somewhere/somewhat in Synapse v4, but like you said: I guess they don't know it either, so they just fall back on “too bad, we don't know, we don't care, not our problem, just deal with it”.

And that for a almost a 200 euro mouse...

Still not solved.

On the v3 software it's now the annoying message to update to Synapse 4. But… if Razer doesn't/cannot fix it, why install this?

Synapse 4  TOO BUGGY to install. System Restore saved me. What is wrong with Razer; why don’t they fix this?

Just adding on to this thread… buggy software for sure… going back to v3 today.

So what is the issue? Razor has good stuff but also overpriced, as you know. So why can't they fix synapse 4?

And now the software is saying please update before January 2026 when support for synapse 3 expires. So does that mean it won't work at all?

In that case they have 6 months go get Synapse 4 to work… seems doable. If Razer will only listen to their customers and take a look at these threads here.

My thoughts: Razer doesn't.

Same here. Did it already. Way too much issues with 4th gen of Synapse.

v3 runs like a charm.

Same issue still exactly and support is a joke. Not helpful or responsive at all, they just keep closing tickets if I don’t respond within a couple hours. To think I have all Razer stuff and now with a newly purchased headset and keyboard need the new version.

Anyone find any other software that will control lighting? Is there a way to downgrade the version of Synapse 4 and block updates? They aren’t going to fix this.

How good/stable is v4 in the meantime?

Or should I still keep my Synapse v3?
[and hope for the best when it's Jan 20 next year and I must upgrade to Synapse 4]

The issue is still there, just to understand, the original poster posted about this 1 year ago and no one from Razer did ever try to answer yet?

I cant believe this issue has not been resolved.  Had this issue for months. ☹️

Same, and with a brand new Razer 14. Did it on my very first shutdown.  I normally don't say unacceptable but this is a really hard bug to have not found before shipping.

For some reason Synapse v4 remains buggy as h***.

Yet, supports for v3 ends Febr 3, 2026. Does that mean it's also EOL?

Are we still able to use Synapse v3 anyhow after Febr 3 ?
I mean, I can live with the non-supported version of v3 😁

same issue on Alienware R16 pc, the synapse 4 during windows 11 25h2 build shutdown, its kills the razer window during power off during shutdown, as for a few minutes box is seen, I uninstalled synapse 4 will go back to using synapse 3 build, or other keyboard only as I do have two keyboards one is razer, other brand is steel series keyboard, that one has more buttons, a LCD screen and volume control, my razer is only good for those games that still include effects for it. I guess, razer keyboard works great if your using bazzite deck nvidia kde plasma build or gnome, in any case, openrazer drivers work fine for it, kind of more supported than my steel series keyboard in linux distro, which has a startup with steam big picture mode or deck mode as its called, great for gaming and you use lutris for apps like epic games launcher, ea games and can add them into steam for playing, only problems is alienware r16 has that sleep mode bug, where in linux if you put pc in sleep mode, the monitor doesn’t turn back on when waking, which I don’t think is the keyboards fault, but a bug in linux kernel, wish linux gaming was more supported, not sure why epic or ubisoft connect doesn’t have native linux installers yet, it still using wine and winetricks, plus lutris for playing games, and proton in steam for gaming too.

You can download Razer Synapse 3 directly from Razer’s official legacy page, got link when I asked copilot where to find the Synapse 3 download software.
Razer Synapse 3 - Cloud-Based Hardware Configuration Tool | Razer United States

is the fix until its fixed, as Synapse 4 cannot close correctly with windows 11 25h2 build, as when Alienware R16 powers off which has intel i9 14900kf processor, and NVidia rtx 4080 super 3D card in it, ddr5 mem 32gb of ram total, the Synapse 4 window is end tasked during powering off, or at least last time I installed it was doing that, maybe a fix will fix it, but my razer keyboard originally use Synapse 3 or 2, so it makes sense that version 4 might be overkill for that older razer keyboard. I don’t have both razer and steel series software on the same pc at the same time, as I think it might either work fine or not.

There is no problem with Logitech products. Just ask a refound if you just buy Razer products and change partner.

I'm using Windows 11 & Razer Synapse 4 and I also see it when shutting my PC off.
The “RazerAppEngine” is closing for a second and then it turns off.

I just updated my Razer Support question on this. I got the ‘newly submitted ticket’ format again, whereas they could've looked into my account. Anyways, hopefully I'll get an answer to this “RazerAppEngine is preventing PC shutdown” ticket.

What kinda frightens me though is when I asked what happens after Feb 3 next year with the support and if v3 will be EOL the anwer was: “yes it means end of life for Synapse 3. After February 3 2026, you will no longer be able to use Razer Synapse 3”

So basically v4 doesn't work (at all) and Razer is announcing it dead and unuseful. Yikes…!

To clarify (because I cannot edit the OP):
So basically Synapse v4 doesn't work (at all) and/or has major bugs and Razer is simply and laughably announcing Synapse v3 is dead and unuseful. Yikes…!”
