Razer 2015 Power/Charging Issues | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Even though power adapter is plugged in, system does not recognize it as such and the battery icon appears as though it's just running on battery power

• the original 150w power adapter failed in 2017. while gaming, at one point the entire system would shut down. I had some success with undervolting with the Intel Extreme Tuning tool

• Months after, I eventually I shelled out a lot of money to buy the official 165w blade power adapter which worked well until last month when the same problem started reoccuring

• the battery icon would just show that the adapter has disconnected (even though it's plugged in). I've tried to undervolt and reduce the max CPU utilization but it does not help. In order to get it to start charging again, I would leave the plug in the laptop, but disconnect the cable from the power outlet, wait a few min and plug it back into the outlet. This would get the charge going again for at least a few min. But some times if I'm lucky, it will charge for longer.

• one interesting thing I noticed is that when I manage to get the charge going again and I start playing CS:GO, it will manage to keep the charge going. But once I quit CS, it the charging would disconnect again.

• when I was playing PUBG earlier, the entire system would shut down after a while and I would have to boot it up again. This happened a few times, quite sporadic

Anyone have similar issues, or any suggestions?

I've reached out to Razer support but still pending response. This is very disappointing, as I paid a premium to buy the razer branded power adapter replacement and it's failing again.
If you’re facing same issue with new ac adapter maybe the culprit is something else like power supply socket on motherboard and since it’s quite old gaming laptop the heat might be the source of the issue. Try to check if the power adapter still has green light first to double check it isn’t defect power brick.

Since this sounds to me need support I’ll change the tab to support not general discussion since there’s not a lot user use the 2015 Blade 14 anymore i believe. I had this model for around 2 years personally I didn’t notice the power supply issue FYI, but since it’s more than 2 years more technical knowledge on the Model would be required. I hope support staff would pick you up there.
