Razer Atheris cannot enter bluetooth pairing mode

Hi everyone! I’ve been regularly using my atheris on bluetooth for around 2 years now with no issues until today, when the mouse failed to connect to my laptop via bluetooth. Usually, the LED indicator quickly flashes green before turning blue as it connects over bluetooth. However, the indicator is now lighting up and staying green (no flashing) when I turn bluetooth on. Trying to put it into pairing mode by pressing and holding the two side buttons + the DPI cycle button also seems to have no effect, the light stays green.

The mouse works fine using the usb dongle. I’ve done a factory reset on it via Razer Synapse but it’s still giving the same issue. I’ve tried a firmware update as well, but could only do half of it since I can’t connect the mouse via bluetooth after the first step.

I’m wondering if this is a fixable software problem, or if the hardware is just broken. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hello,

I am reading this two months after you posted it and because I incurred exactly in the same issue.

It’s a shame, to be polite, that the tech support gurus of Razer cannot spend a bit of their precious time to help people that bought their product and hence contributed to their welfare. May be the warranty is over, but we are still human and relationship are something different from AI stuffs used to run the businesses nowadays.

Anyway, I don’t know if you solved your issue. I hope so, and I am kindly asking you to give me more details on how you performed the factory reset and the bios update. I found just one bios that doesn’t look to be correct for my mouse which has model n. RC30-021702.

Thank you in advance.

Hi guys,

Thanks for posting your concerns in the support board. Make sure the Synapse app is up to date and try to reinstall the mouse’s driver for further isolation. Otherwise, PM me the serial number so I can verify its model and check my resources for model-specific workarounds.

@Michele.Liguori - We appreciate your feedback and will do our very best to improve our support coverage. Regarding your question, you can reset the settings of your mouse in the Synapse app by clicking the gear button at the top right of the application’s window then go to “RESET”.

Hello,

Glad that my comment shacked your soul and resulted in an answer from you. I sent you my product details as a PM.

Thanks for your info. I already found those but they didn’t work. I don’t believe it’s a software issue.

It happened when I changed the exhausted batteries in my mouse. After turning it on again the mouse was not “recognized” by the PC even if still present in the list of bluetooth devices. This already happened to me so I removed the pairing from the PC and was going to pair it again.

But then what I got is exactly the same situation as the one reported by dailyVividOrange236: with the switch turned to the bluetooth side, the led become green and never goes off. Pressing all the needed buttons to start the pairing nothing happens and the led stays green without becoming blinking blue.

I left the mouse without batteries the entire night and this morning it seemed it was working as the led went from steady green to a king of blinking blue but it didn’t pair anyway and turning it off and on again, the led started again to be only steady green.

The mouse works perfectly with the 2.4 adapter, which I never used before and don’t want to use as it takes up a USB port I need, and the funniest thing is that if I try the pairing sequence pressing the buttons when the mouse switch is on the 2.4, the led become immediately blinking blue but it’s still not visible to bluetooth.

I hope I gave you enough info.

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you.

Just to confirm, you don’t have any problem connecting other BT devices to the same PC, correct? Yes, I received your message and let’s just continue there so I can assist you accordingly and verify our options. Thanks!

Hi all,

no, I don’t have any problem pairing and connecting other Bluetooth devices to the same PC.

Also, I have to say that as suddenly as it came, the defect went away and now I have been able again to pair and connect my Razor mouse using the Bluetooth.

I have no idea on why and this is still a mystery to me, but after about one day being turned off (the mouse) I switched it on again on the Bluetooth side just to try and the steady green light went off leaving a dimmed blue one on.

I then tried to press all the buttons to activate the pairing mode and magically the led started flashing in blue.

I immediately turned on my PC and activated discovery of devices, found the mouse, paired and connected it and it’s still working in Bluetooth mode.

Since this issue happens to me when I have to replace exhausted batteries, what I am going to do is to monitor battery level and change them before the got completely discharged.

Thank you.

HI,
I have exactly same case - RC30-021702.

It happened when I changed the exhausted batteries in my mouse. After turning it on again the mouse was not “recognized” by the PC so I removed the pairing from the PC and was going to pair it again. When I tried to pair device went from blinking blue to green, keep 2 seconcs and swithced back to blinking blue.

I don’t have any problem pairing and connecting other Bluetooth devices to the same PC.

Thank you in advance for support

I have exactly same issue as Marszt85 has above.

Hi guys,

I have the exact same issue. After changing the battery, the mouse stopped working in bluetooth pair mode.
In pairing with the usb it works perfectly well, but after trying to start the bluetooth mode the LEDs do not even start blinking (after holding the appropriate buttons) and the computer does not see any device.

Has anyone managed to deal with this problem? I don't see any meaningful response from support.

I am also having the same exact problem. Unable to pair this mouse via BT only through the 2.4Ghz dongle. Seems like it just won’t go into pair mode. What should I do? Support team, something must be going on. I’ve been able to swap between Laptop (2.4) and Tablet (BT) all the time and now I cannot.

I contacted the support team because there was no answer here. Basically, you need to update everything you can (firmware, software, os… whatever) and if nothing works… buy a new mouse. That’s what they told me in the end… I’m kinda disappointed by Razer. They didn’t even say that they’ll figure something out, like a future update or something, but no. Nothing. Buy a new mouse.

It’s not good news but I hope it helps o/

Had the same issue and was able to fix mine. When updating the firmware, i noticed that the version my mouse was on was very dated.

Went to the link below and clicked on the drivers & downloads. Download the firmware/Updater.
https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3711

Remove your atheris from your bluetooth devices and then reconnect to the bluetooth.

And that’s the steps that allowed my atheris to work under bluetooth again. Hope this helps!

Hi, I had the same issue.

I took out batteries from the mouse and left it like that for a whole night. The next day i put batteries back in and it started working normally. I just don’t know for how long it will work:P

Chiming in with the same issue here. I just updated the firmware and Bluetooth is still not working.

Please, anyone has a clue regarding this issue?

EMERALDRedVioletradio371

hi there,

Chiming in with the same issue.
At this point, i’ve pretty much done everything there is to try to solve the connection issue. Which includes manipulating my registry to try to detect it and no luck.

Not only does the 2.4hz not work, it pushes the pointer up left and sits there. The BT doesn’t detect at all..and I’ve tried connecting to maybe 4 to 5 laptops and no luck. the fishball auntie has better luck connecting her radio to by BT device than your mouse.

I’m a firm believer in your products but if there isn’t a fix to this product and seeing the thread, there are other users facing similar issues, then why market it out at all. You’re better off calling a product recall for a defective product. And if you can’t get a simple mouse to work, then what more the rest of your products.

My Artheris has the similar issue. When I toggle to the Bluetooth mode, I got no light indicator at all not green or blue. I try pressing the three buttons and nothing happened. It’s still work with 2.4 dongle and all buttons working just fine.  Without live support without warranty, I guess best bet is to switch to Logitech :(

aeroMagentaIOLITE951

updated the firmware, deleted all existing BT connections with the Razer Atheris and paired again with success via BT. Then the connection starts flickering between connected and not connected and the mouse is unresponsive and the blue light constantly flickers. What can I do now?

my atheris mouse seems to be unable to connect via blue tooth.
the dongle works but the bluetooth cannot be connected/discovered by my computer.
the blue light for the dpi sensitivity button keeps blinking twice which means its in bluetooth pairing mode and any holding of the 2 left buttons and dpi sensitivity button doesn’t cause it to change.
I’ve both updated firmware and reset the mouse using razer synapse but the issue remains.
my mouse is out of warranty but i would like to enquire if its possible to fix it and the estimated cost?
i’m based in Singapore
