Razer Barracuda (not X) stops working randomly for about 10 seconds every 5-10 minutes

Hi everyone,

I’m having a persistent issue with my Razer Barracuda (not the X version) when connected via the USB dongle.

Randomly (sometimes every 3 minutes, sometimes every 30 minutes), the headset just stops working. It is still detected by the system as an audio device, but there is no sound output and the microphone also stops working completely.

Battery level doesn’t seem to matter — it happens both at 100% and at lower percentages.

I don’t want to use Bluetooth because I’m concerned about latency and stability while gaming.

What I’ve already tried:

  • Installed the latest drivers

  • Reset the headset

  • Used the pairing support tool to re-pair the dongle

  • Manage the headphone in Razer Synapse

Unfortunately, the issue keeps happening.

There’s another strange behavior: sometimes the volume suddenly becomes much lower than normal, and I can’t adjust it — neither from the headset nor from the PC. Then, when the audio fully drops as described above, the volume comes back at maximum and I can’t lower it.

It’s becoming very frustrating because I can’t game properly without stable audio.

Has anyone experienced the same issue or found a fix?
