Razer Barracuda X cracking noise with high volume

The headset has been working perfectly since I bought it until some days ago when I noticed that if I have the volume a little too high, it starts cracking and eventually the right ear stops working ‘til I lower the volume.

It normally doesn’t reach this level, but I’m trying to see a movie that has overall high volume and even with a low volume in which I barely hear the movie I can still hear the cracking, so this is now becoming a concern for me.

I don’t have any kind of Razer software installed, only the drivers automatically installed when plugging in the USB-C dongle, which is the mode I use the headphones with.

Hi ImFanta,

I’m here to help! To make sure I’m looking at the right issue, does the crackling issue happen only over the USB-C dongle, or does it also happen with another connection? Please try to reinstall the audio drivers and see if the issue is fixed.

  1. Open the "Device Manager".
  2. Expand "Audio inputs and outputs".
  3. Right-click the headset and select "Uninstall device".
  4. Restart the computer to fully remove the drivers. They will automatically reinstall upon restart.

If possible, please also test the headset on a different computer without Synapse installed. If the issue persists, send me a PM with your device serial number so I can verify the model and check for any available firmware updates. All the best!
