I had bought a Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed a few years ago as a back-up mouse in case my current mouse has issues. Well that day finally came, and now I unboxed my Razer Basilisk Hyperspeed and it’s faulty immediately. After successfully pairing via USB dongle or Bluetooth, mouse movements and button clicks and scrolls don’t register. In Razer Synapse, the mouse shows as sleep/off/not connected, although it did manage to show as connected a few times on Bluetooth so I could try changing the Power Saving mode to the highest setting, not going idle until 15 min.
For troubleshooting, I have tried:
- Updating drivers and firmware via the mouse model page from Razer
- Razer Mouse Pairing Utility and Razer USB HyperSpeed Dongle Utility
- Using a new 1.5V battery
- Restarting my PC
- Closing all Razer apps (e.g. Synapse)
- Plugging the dongle into different USB ports
What are some potential issues and fixes?
Based on the symptoms and troubleshooting, it might be the transmitter in the mouse is failing, or insufficient power throughput in the wiring/soldering.
This is disappointing considering my previous mouse Razer Basilisk V3 also started failing due to a hardware issue of the USB connector not having sufficient throughput to support the mouse features: scroll wheel, RGB lighting, and lifting up triggering optical sensor’s function to idle after exceeding tracking distance results in mouse disconnection.
