Razer Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed does not work with usb hub | Razer Insider

My Razer Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed doesn’t seem to work with any USB hubs I’ve tried.  I’m on latest firmware of both headset and dongle.  When I connect directly to a USB port on my laptop, everything works as expected.  However, when plugging either the headset or dongle to a USB hub, nothing seems to work correctly.  I’ve had issues ranging from sound device seeming to lock up, or audio works briefly then cuts out.  I’ve tried both USB 3.0 and USB 3.2 hubs.  Is this expected behavior?  My laptop has limited USB ports, so I really need  to get this working with a USB hub.

I forgot to add that all my other USB devices (keyboards/cameras/usb earbuds/mice/flash drives) work fine when connected to the same USB hubs.  This Razer Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed headset/dongle are the only USB devices I have that don’t work correctly when connected to a USB hub.

Hello spotpulseDarkRed722,

It is generally not advisable to connect a headset or its dongle to a USB hub or USB extension for several reasons. Firstly, USB hubs can introduce additional latency and interference, which can affect the performance of wireless devices such as your Razer Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed headset and dongle. Additionally, USB hubs may not provide sufficient power to the connected devices, leading to unstable connections and intermittent issues with audio output. Furthermore, the USB hub itself may not be compatible with the specific requirements of the headset and dongle, leading to unexpected behavior. To ensure optimal performance, it is recommended to connect the headset and dongle directly to the USB ports on your laptop, as you have observed that everything works as expected in this configuration. Feel free to PM me if you need further assistance. All the best!
