Razer Blackshark V2 no longer charging - solid red LED

I purchased this headset just 2 years ago. For any support staff wondering about the serial number, I just registered it as part of my account.

The headset will not charge anymore. When I plug it to a USB-C cable, the led turns solid red, which I believe means very low battery, although based on the manual, it should be blinking.

I have tried to charge it using different usb-C cables, and have confirmed those cables work on other devices.

If I try to turn the headset on, I can briefly hear the audio firmware saying the headset is now on before it shuts off again. So the headset works, it just can’t charge.

I’m inclined to think this is the usb-c socket? Would love for support to tell me how to proceed.

Hi bizPolishedPinebook884

The Razer BlackShark V2 Pro is probably experiencing a charging issue, possibly due to a faulty cable, a damaged charging port, or a defective battery. Let’s rule this out by following the steps below:

  1. Use a different USB-C cable to see if the original cable is faulty.
  2. Try different USB ports (ensure they are powered USB Type A ports using the provided adapter, or a reliable wall adapter) and a different power source to eliminate the possibility of a bad port or outlet.
  3. Avoid USB hubs and plug directly into the PC if possible, for a stable power connection.
  4. Inspect the charging port on the headset for any debris, dust, or visible damage. Gently clean it with a lint-free microfiber cloth or a soft-bristled brush if necessary.
  5. Ensure there's no visible damage to the headset itself or the charging cable that might impact performance.
  6. Fully discharge the headphones by using them until they turn off completely.
  7. Charge them uninterrupted for at least 12 hours to attempt to recalibrate the battery sensor.
  8. After some charging time (e.g., 30 minutes), try pressing and holding the power button for at least 3 seconds until you hear 2 short beeps.
  9. If you can get the headset to connect to your PC (even while plugged in), check the device status in the Razer Synapse 3 software to see if it provides more specific information on the battery percentage or charging status.
  10. Ensure your Synapse 3 software is up to date, as outdated versions can sometimes cause connectivity and battery display issues.

If the issue persists despite these steps, especially if the light remains solid red and the battery level does not increase in Synapse 3, the internal battery may be defective or there might be a hardware fault. Please know that Razer does not offer repair services for peripherals. I can create a case for warranty claim - subject for approval as the team will check if your device’s still within warranty.
