Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (2020 Version) audio gets really loud while swapping tabs/programs

AlandreaRogers

Hiya, hope whoever reads this is having a great day. C:

So I bought these new headphones around January 1st and have been experiencing this main issue for quite a few months, it has gotten to the point where I couldnt stand it anymore and actually bothered to try and get it resolved. I have done a clean reinstall of the Razer Synapse program a few times already to no avail, and other headphones we have in the house does not experience this issue;

Issue/Bug: The Razer Blackshark V2 Pro (2020) I bought experiences a HEAVY increase in volume anytime I swap inbetween tabs while audio is already playing. And it gets so loud to the point where I am experiencing hearing issues a short while after. (An example is having Media Player playing some Music then clicking into a game or opening up my browser and my audio feels like it goes from 70% all the way to above 100%). This heavy volume increase only happens for 5 seconds then it fades back to normal volume. I am also a streamer and this audio spike does NOT get caught through OBS, volume is normal in the audio mixer and to my viewers. Which makes me worried theres something wrong with my headphones physically. The physical volume slider on my headphones is also set at normal (where the slider kind of snaps into the middle spot). Moving the slider proved no help to this issue unfortunately, as the issue still persists.

Things I have done to try to resolve this:

  • Clean Reinstall of Razer Synapse (a few times)
  • Reinstalled Windows 11
  • Reinstalled drivers
  • Uninstalled Razer Synapse 2 and installed Razer Synapse 3
  • Reinstalled firmware

Dont know if it provides additional information that may or may not help but this is the product serial number:
HN2323D13102539

Any help is highly appreciated! I want my ears to stop bleeding when I swap inbetween tabs :(

I am also running into this issue. I think it might be synapse but I’m unsure, I reinstalled it today and this is the first time I’ve ever encountered this issue, or any issues, with this headset.

I’d try new Synapse (beta) if you still haven’t tried it yet: https://www.razer.com/synapse-new

Mine BlackShark V2 2020 works OK there, one thing that doesn’t work is EQ settings, but no issues with volume bumping etc.

Having the same issue, did you end up finding a fix? Did an RMA/new unit fix this?

Same problem here for a few months now, I don’t know if it happens on switching between programs.

Unfortunately this issue is still persisting for me, I managed to slow to down by doing a full uninstallation of all Razer applications and programs and installing Razer 2 (not 3). But after a full month it came back. It's so frustrating to deal with :(

I tried that and while the volume increase seems to be gone (for now) I still hear noise when rotating the knob above or below the middle point

Hmm… strange, since I cannot reproduce this.

Windows 10/11 also have some per-app volume, so maybe there’s a problem?

Well, I also had this problem. What helped for me was disabling the THX Spatial Audio.

In some games, it fixes when you change the sound from 7.1 surround to just normal stereo. But if you don't find such settings, you can also go into the Windows Sound Settings for your Razor Headphones and deactivate the "THX Spatial Audio" audio enhancement. Just change it from "device standard effects" to "off."

After that, my games had normal audio and didn't crank up to 1000%.

I hope this may be helping someone!
