I have a razor blade 14. I just did the firmware update for MCU, PD1, PD2, BIOS, and EC. The little update box went well and said it was successful I believe. But now I have been stuck on a black screen after that that only has my mouse cursor with a small hourglass next to it which I can not move around the screen anymore ( I was able to for the first 20 or so minutes). It has been at least 40-60 minutes since I’ve been on this screen. According to the guide the update page had my computer should have a green light blink and my keyboard lights up every so often for about 15 minutes but I have not seen anything except for when I clicked a button on my keyboard which caused it to light up for a moment before turning off. I am not sure what to do. I assume turning it off would be the worst thing I can do. So I’ll leave it on and plugged in until I can get some help.
I’ll leave this post here for anyone in the future.
A support agent from a chat room helped me solve this in a timely manner.
All we ended up having to do was
- Ensure charger is plugged in.
- hold power for 10 seconds.
- while holding power unplug charger.
- release power for a few seconds.
- plug charger back in.
- press the power button.
this allowed for a hard reset from which the update proceeded as planned.
