Razer Blade 15 Advanced - blank screen and fan rattle

Hi

I've just become a new Razer Blade owner having moved away from Mac. I'm loving the laptop and am glad that I made the break from Apple, however...sadly within two days of receiving my Razer Blade 15 Advanced (240hz, i7 9750, 2080 MaxQ, late 2019) it has developed an intermittent rattle on the right hand fan when running at low RPM and this morning the screen went blank with only a power cycle able to fix it.

So far I haven't played any games on it and have just browsed the web and installed software. I have run a 3D Mark Stress test but this isn't anything that I wouldn't expect to be able to do.

I purchased it through Amazon and am thinking that I should return it, but also worried I may just end up with a laptop with similar problems or worse!

Has anyone had similar problems or does anyone have advice? Any help would be greatly appreciated..!

Hi there! Are you still having the same issue? Can you share a video of it?
I am also having this issue with the fan noise and occasionally when using chrome the screen will go to black and I have to close chrome and restart it. The laptop seems to function correctly otherwise and I've not noticed any overheating problems, but the noise is maddening and seems to be getting worse. I contacted support a couple weeks ago but never got any kind of response. I purchased the laptop in July of this year.

Tried to share a video, but the forum tells me the extension isn't allowed in both .mov and .mp4 formats...

Hi, after that initial episode, I haven't suffered any black screens. I have re-installed windows following upgrade of the SSD so I'm not sure whether that would have resolved some of the issue. Before I did that though I updated a couple of the intel drivers for the integrated graphics using their driver update tool. It seemed to get better after that.

The fan does still make a bit of a rattle occasionally but not in a repeatable way. When it does it almost sounds like something is catching in it at low rpm. If I pick the laptop up and tilt it sometimes reproduces the noise.

My worry is that the fan may get worse. I wouldn't be adverse to replacing it but wouldn't know where to order one if it did finally give up. That being said, I would hope this would be covered under warranty.

Hi there! Please upload it somewhere like Google Drive. PM me the serial number of your device and the link to the video. I'll pick it up from there.

Have you encountered the black screen problem since this last post?
If you managed to fix it I'm interested in following the same steps 🙂
Hi! No haven't had the problem again. I updated the Nvidia drivers on the system and all seems to be resolved. Saying that I have actually swapped out the SSD and performed a clean install of windows, but up until the poiunt I did that I didn't get the black screen again.
That's great to hear! Did you use the Nvidia drivers listed on Razer's site or where did you get those? 🙂
I downloaded the "Nvidia Experience" from nvidia.com. Once that was installed, I went to driver updates and let the software download the drivers and haven't had a problem since 🙂. Hope this helps!
