Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model & Razer phone 2 bloated battery | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Dear Razer,

Instead of replying to one of the many posts on this forum regarding bloated batteries, I thought it would be best to start one for my situation. Like many others, I have a Razer Blade laptop purchased in 2018, which just recently developed battery swell. I am concerned because not only does it seem that replacements are hard to find, but I have a similar issue with my Razer phone 2 and battery swell. I have owned several laptops and smartphones, so despite the standard line that these batteries deteriorate over time, I can't help but wonder if there is more to this than just simple, normal deterioration. I have never had any of my Sony, Apple, Samsung devices (laptops and phones) do this, even after many years of use. I am known to take very good care of my devices to keep them looking new so when I can upgrade, I can trade-in and trade up or donate a device in good condition. Believe it or not, my previous ASUS gaming laptops went to my mom.

What options do I have with these devices? Ideally, I would like to replace both batteries with a quality replacement but they seem to be extremely difficult to find and I don't have a lot of confidence in authorized repair centers having much luck either. It seems most customers are having to find 3rd party replacements on their own. Is this what I should expect? I really like the aesthetics of Razer devices and look forward to purchasing more, but only if I can regain confidence that the quality of those devices holds up over time. Otherwise, I have to factor in the cost of hundreds of dollars in extended warranties, to ensure I am protected which at that point, doesn't make these devices competitive in the market.

I currently am heavily invested in Razer with (in addition to devices named previously) Nommo Chroma speakers, wireless charger for Razer phone 2, laptop stand, wireless headset stand, Halo Infinite Black Widow keyboard, Death Adder mouse, and gaming mouse pad, along with a mini Huntsman in mercury. Looking forward to your response in hopes of continuing our mutually beneficial relationship.

Thank you,

PM me the serial number of your devices along with your mailing address if you want to give it a try. But if you're leaning towards the DIY route, do let me know so I can unlock this thread for you.
