The other day I was playing overwatch and my laptop screen went black. It happened before and usually resolved with a hard reset. So I restarted my laptop and the display did not come back on. Im out of town for work so I plugged in the hdmi cable from the hotel tv and was able to get a signal. I attempted to troubleshoot by opening the device manager and reinstalling the NVIDIA display drivers. Upon uninstalling them assuming they would just reinstall. I lost the signal to the TV.
Now I don’t have any display on my laptop or to an external display. It’s just black, no backlight, just black. The laptop boots to windows fine because I can hear the boot up sounds through the speakers and windows hello operates as normal.
I opened up the laptop to try and further troubleshoot by disconnecting the battery, swapping the ram slots, unplugging the ssd, taking out the cmos battery, and then reassembling. All of this to no help. Still no display.
About a day before this happened, in Razer synapse I’m pretty sure I enabled the setting to only use the dedicated nvidia rtx 4070 gpu and not have the laptop automatically switch between integrated and dedicated. No idea if this would cause the issue but worth mentioning.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Having this issue on a laptop that’s barely 2 years old is unacceptable.
