Razer Blade 18 (RTX 4090) – GPU stuck at 40W+ even when idle? Anyone else?

Hey everyone,

Got a weird issue with my Razer Blade 18 (RTX 4090, RZ09-0484) — even when I’m doing literally nothing (just Chrome open, no heavy apps), the GPU is drawing 40–44W constantly. Temps are around 70°C, fans running, and battery life is getting destroyed (~40min on battery).

What’s weirder:

  • GPU usage is at 0% (checked via nvidia-smi, HWInfo, Task Manager)

  • But a bunch of UI stuff shows up in nvidia-smi as C+G processes (Chrome, Slack, Spotify, Razer, PowerToys, EA Desktop, etc.)

  • No external monitors

  • No gaming, no rendering, no dGPU apps — and yet, GPU never goes idle

Anyone else dealing with this? Is there a fix?
Should I try older drivers or tweak BIOS stuff?

Thanks 🙏

Hello,

my Blade 18 4090 has the issue, that the remaining battery time  jumps e.g. from 200 mins to 2 mins and back to 200 mins.

Do you see the same behavior?
