Razer Blade Pro 17 (Early 2019) - Charging Issues | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Hi,

I bought a Razer Blade Pro 17 (Early 2019) 2 years ago and have had no issues with it so far, but 2 days ago things changed. When I turn the laptop on and connected to power, it displays that it is charging just fine and stays that way until I start performing any high demand task (such as playing games, has happened with 7 Days to Die, Icarus, Furmark Stress test, even in the lowest settings). It then proceeds to no longer charge (still connected to power), and the game performs as in battery mode. While this is happening, the laptop does charge every now and then for a second (FPS spikes as if the game was trying to perform normally), and then goes back to not charging and poor performance. If I stop gaming tasks, after a few minutes the laptop will then proceed to charge normally.

I have done the following:

1. Updated Windows 11 to latest version v 21H2 (Build 22000.593)

2. Updated Nvidia Drivers to latest version 512.15 (Clean Install)

3. I have tried removing and installing older drivers (2 months old)

4. I have updated the laptop firmware

5. The batteries look to be in good condition and I reseated the connection to the laptop

6. The laptop boots with no battery connected but abruptly turns off when I start to play a game

7. I've calibrated the battery by following this guide https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/393/~/the-razer-blade-battery-is-either-not-charging-or-not-detected with no change to performance

The green light on the power brick is on and I have tried multiple sources of power (outlets). All solutions to this problem seem to be quickly hidden by Razer support staff:

Please help 🙂

Please help :)

The laptop of the user from the link you've posted was repaired and the other one is still under monitoring after installing the BIOS and EC firmware. Please send me the following, so I can check your the Razer Blade's details and start an investigation:

a. MSinfo logs.

b. Screenshot of Windows version (Hit Windows + R. Open the Run box with then type winver)

c. Photo of the BIOS main tab.

d. Windows Battery Report

• Hit Windows Button + X and select Command Prompt (Admin). This is the quickest way to open the Command Prompt as an administrator.

• Type in and enter: powercfg /batteryreport

Note: This command will create a battery report under C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\battery-report.html or, in Windows versions older than Windows 10, under C:\\Users\\rUsername]. Save the files via Google Drive or any online drive account, then paste the link in your PM. I’ll be locking this thread now to divert our conversation privately.

*I will update this thread with the outcome of our private conversation.
