Razer Blade Pro 2020 can't update Nvidia drivers

Userlevel 1
Can't update it and tech support has no clue how to get this fixed. It is going to be escalated. Let's see how long it takes to get this resolved.

so, @Razer.SpeedCr0ss here we are again. Is there any update at all? It seems your brand new laptops have the same issue. I can't imagine that's good for business.

Where's the update on status? There's been literally ZERO communication from Razer about this.

When i'm in battery mode, my screen becomes black for any reason.. 3 times today. i've to hard reboot the laptop... it's really anoying.

Hi! Welcome to the "Cult of Razer" lol
No siriusly, may I ask what version of the RBP 17 2021 you have?
The one with the 120 Hz 4k screen? 1080p 300Hz screen? 1440p with 165 Hz?
Does it also have a "GPU Only" and "Optimus" modes in Synapse?

Thanks

Hello, it's the 4k 120hz one. And yes, it Aldo have both settings on synapse.

Thanks for letting us know, how interesting that your issue only happens while on battery.
So when you are plugged to power there are no issues with black screens?
May I ask a huge favor? Would you mind sharing 3DMark FireStrike benchmark scores?
I am so interested in knowing ho much more performance there is between the 2080 and the 3080 versions.
Our 2080 is limmited to 100w Power Limit, I wonder what the PL is on the 3080.

This is probably my best result ever, even though it was in BIOS 1.0 so I wont ever be able to match that physics score again after they locked undervolting.

FYI: You can get 3D Demo free in Steam to run Fire Strike

Hey guys. No update yet. I'm watching this thread, same as my other colleagues from the Support Team. Once an official fix is generated, I'll update this thread.

Hi, this is the two bench i've got on the new RBP 17 4k 120hz rtx3080. It's seems to be better whith high resolutions.
The gpu tdp is about 100watts with dynamic boost, a little bit frustrating considering it has the best cooling solution of any laptop competition.. Razer need to update the bios quickly !!
Black screen appears only in battery mode.. i'am with support to fix this issue.

Thanks for sharing but your results are hidden so I am unable to view them.
That is not fair at all, only 100w? They should've increased that to 120/130 to take advantage of that 3080, specially for 4K gaming!
Well at least your problems don't happen while plugged in, meaning you can at least use the laptop in GPU mode while gaming.
Would you mind sharing FireStrike scores (make it viewable)
Thanks!

I will try to get the firestrike bench tonight. The black screen issue is still there. 2 Times in 10 min when i'am on battery mode yesterday... With dedicated GPU ans 120hz activited.
Sad to see this issue also affecting the 2021 model.
If this issue is related to the BIOS, are we likely to see a fix for the release of 11th gen Intel?
Does 11th gen use a new socket, thus potentially a different mobo and different BIOS?

I replied to your PM. I've notified our team regarding this behavior since you are the first one I've seen on the thread reporting this issue for the Razer Blade Pro 17 2021 model. I'll wait for your follow-up.
Do we have anyone in here who got a Razer Blade Pro 2020 but never formatted the SSD and still has the original recovery partition? It would help all of us if that person could create a backup of that SSD recovery partition and upload it somewhere. I'm willing to pay.

One thing I'm interested in trying is what if we get back that original recovery partition and start a recovery, it'll reset our state of Windows to when we first got the laptops. It's possible doing so will fix this. If it works for me just one more time, I will not upgrade Windows or NVIDIA Drivers and happily spend my forever after on something that works.
Update, got the recovery image from Razer Support. I’ll keep you updated
Update, performed recovery using recovery image, reset everything to stock. The problem persists.

thx for the effort

Razer reps, any idea why resolving this problem taking so long? I get that you need to work with nvidia but seems there is significant amount of people struggling with this issue. Can you guys give us an ETA on this?
For transparency, the whole "PM me and we'll figure it out" has ended in RMA for me so far. They said the unit is defective and needs to be checked by a razer technician. Even tho this same thing happened last year and was fixed by a BIOS update.
Hi, just to chime in that my Razer Pro 17 (Late 2019) is also having issues, when on dedicated GPU and the laptop goes to sleep and wakes up, everything wakes up except the screen. Only solution is to use Nvidia Optimus but then the screen is running on 60 Hz, instead of 120 Hz and sometimes flickering happens, so still not all good. Waiting for a permanent fix.
Update, with latest Nvidia drivers I cannot use dedicated GPU at all, my screen, after the boot up sequence, doesnt light up at all.
Unfortunately I have to confirm, with driver version 461.72 the behavior is the same like before the BIOS update. The screen is dark all the time, not just after hibernation but right from fresh start. So this driver version brings the case from bad to worst. Progress looks different.

Jumped on here when i saw new driver came out with big hopes. This is ridiculous.

Does all Blade 15 and 17s have this issue? Getting tired of trying all of the Nvidia and Intel Graphics Driver versions. I recently bought my Blade 15 rtx2070 but every driver seems to flicker or black screen after a while of use especially after sleep mode. This is the only thread that i've seen so far Razer is monitoring regarding this issue.
