Razer Blade Pro 2020 can't update Nvidia drivers

Can't update it and tech support has no clue how to get this fixed. It is going to be escalated. Let's see how long it takes to get this resolved.

Just got a new Blade Pro 17 2020 with a 2080 super and am having the same issues. Glad I found this thread. Tried to update the drivers with GeForce Experience and got the black screen. Really hope we get a fix for this soon. Reverting to old drivers is not fun.

if you just bought it from somewhere you can return, return it. this will not get fixed. Razer doesn't care, nor does nvidia. we are screwed, you don't have to be.

Unfortunately, I bought the laptop a few months ago, and only recently got around to updating the graphics driver and ruining a perfectly good day getting the laptop working again. So, no longer able to return. For a product as expensive as this, I expected much better support from Razer. 😞
These are the results from my testing of various driver versions:

  • If I run Nvidia driver version 431.70, there is no issue
  • If I run Nvidia driver version 456.71 the screen cannot turn on back after laptop wakes up from sleep
  • If I run Nvidia driver version 466.27 (and all other following this version) the screen goes black during the installation of the driver and laptop cannot be run in dedicated GPU mode ever

I didnt cover all the versions there are but some of them. I hope this will help Razer engineers a bit.
I got a new Razer Blade 17 Pro from RMA, and previously even downgrading NVIDIA driver wasn't working for me.

Here's the list of pre-installed Software and their versions, hopefully it helps someone.

The Windows version is 2004, OS Build 19041.208
Hello everyone.
Do you know if with these new Nvidia drivers, 466.47 already fixed our black screen problem?
The truth is that I no longer want to change to a GPU dedicade, since it is very frustrating to see the black screen again and see that we still do not solve this big problem and as a result we do not enjoy our Razer Blade Pro 2020 4k 120 hz and others. thx
Has anyone news?
It doesnt, Razer needs to fix this with a BIOS update or some other kind of software patch.

Considering they've stopped replying to this post, I'm not holding my breath for a fix.

I was able to confirm that the issue is still happening on RTX 2080 NVIDIA driver version 466.11 when I assisted a user with Blade Pro 17 2019 yesterday. I am still working on his case and will coordinate with our devs as soon as I have the outcome of our isolation tests.

Try version 456.71, you can use the laptop in dedicated GPU mode but just watch out that the screen doesn't turn off or the laptop goes to sleep. Then it works fine.

Still waiting for a fix from Razer so we can use the latest driver version.

Is there some other route we can take? Is there a forum like this one on NVIDIA's or Microsoft's forum for support? Should we all get together and fire up a class action lawsuit? I'm about ready to sell this laptop at a HUGE loss and buy something from another manufacturer that works, and never return to Razer ever again as well as sway anyone and everyone I know away from their products. I'm pretty sure this is all a cry from the community for help. This is absurd.

I think those are our two options at this point really, I've tweeted at their ceo several times, and I get a customer service rep contacting me and it's always the same oh you can roll back the driver BS, it's ridiculous, it's been almost a year now since this issue started. And they are just radio silent. I'm also strongly recommending anyone and everyone I know to stay away from their laptops. Damn shame.

Supports been going in circles for me. Multiple people reply not knowing what the other said. One asked me to provide all of my details, and I did, and later on another person asked me to fill out all of the same information again. I told them I already did and it's literally attached to this email I'm replying to. That guy just replied and told me to check my junk mail folder. What? I'm dealing with robots with pre-canned replies.

I've been there too man, it's moved on from frustrating to outright ridiculous.. I like your suggestion of a class action suit though. Did you hear about the guy suing dell over the area 51 laptop not being upgradeable.. .he sued over breach of warranty
Any news on this Razer?
The combination of the latest Windows Updates and today's NVIDIA driver up date (GeForce 466.77) has finally fixed this for my 4K120Hz / 2080 Razer Blade Pro 17” (2019) | RZ09-0314x. It not only can boot with an external monitor enabled and still have the 4k120Hz display working, it can also sleep and resume from sleep correctly.

I will try
It works! Miracle!!
I can confirm 466.77 works on my end. Only took Razer a year to fix this.
Not for my.

I'm sorry to hear that. So you have the latest windows updates and NVIDIA Drivers and Razer updates and it still doesn't work? If so then yeah, this is still a problem. Though I'm doing a little happy dance for myself right now, this still doesn't excuse Razer for how long it took. It doesn't even seem like they were the ones responsible for fixing this issue on my end so much as blind chance.
Not solved my issue either. Still a problem Razer, really starting to regret my £3k purchase!
For the people that have this working, can they please share their exact windows version? Run "winver" in Run Command, and see that build number.
Thanks!
Windows 10 Version 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1055)
NVIDIA Driver: GeForce Game Ready Driver (Verison: 466.77)

Note: I have the late 2019 4K model with an RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU.

Very nearly the same as the previous poster, also with the late 2019 4K model with an RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU:

Windows 10 Pro Version 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1052)
NVIDIA Driver: GeForce Game Ready Driver (Verison: 466.77)
