Razer Blade SSD upgrade issue, BIOS maybe?

I own a Razer Blade 15” 2019 Model RZ09-03006W92 with 512GB SSD drive. I’m attempting to upgrade it to a 2TB Crucial SSD CT2000P3PSSD8.

I have been able to create a healthy clone of the SSD with OS working fine when new Crucial SSD is booted from the USB “M.2 SSD ENCLOSURE” I have for plugging in the new SSD as the laptop only has one slot.

As mentioned the new SSD can only boot from the attached dongle, as soon as I put the Crucial SSD into the dedicated laptop slot I’m unable to even go into BIOS settings at the razer logo stage. Laptop is simply frozen and doesn’t take a bios command (F1/DEL) or another key and needs to be powered down.

This is bizarre as even with no SSD in laptop or connected via USB I’m able to go into BIOS but as soon as the SSD is in the laptop pcie slot it stops the laptop working. I have disconnected the CMOS battery to try and force a bios reset and it didn’t work either. With original Samsung SSD removed and new SSD connected via usb enclosure I can access bios and boot the laptop via usb but as soon as I swap them around the laptop freezes at the razer logo stage.

I have also tried this with the new SSD completely wiped and it still wouldn’t let me go into BIOS.

Does anyone know what BIOS setting need to be toggled to allow for my new SSD to work within the PCIe slot? The new SSD looks to be compatible from crucial website.

Cheers

Blaze

Have you find the solution? I have the same problem :/

I also am having this issue, except with a 1 tb ssd from crucial. I was able to clone it successfully, but when I put it into the computer it is just stuck on the Razer logo and I can’t get into recovery mode or the bios and the computer won’t boot.

I’d clone it one more time, maybe I’d try some different cloning software.

I assume that OS on previous disk was properly shut down (not force shutdown)?

Thanks for replying, I tried using the Crucial software to clone the drive, however I had the same problem. I posted a dedicated post linked below. Interestingly, the drive will let me change the boot order with the original drive in the m2 slot and the new drive in an enclosure and let me boot off the new drive. Maybe that suggests a firmware issue. I’m not sure.

I found a solution. I returned the Crucial P3 1TB drive and got a Samsung 990 Evo 1TB. I chose this ssd since the original drive was also a Samsung, so I thought that it would be more likely to be compatible. I cloned the new Samsung 990 Evo using Macrium Reflect and swapped the old drive to the new one. On the next boot, the computer booted to a blue screen error saying that I needed to repair the drive. I swapped back to old drive, recreated a repair disk (usb stick) using Macrium (see the video below for instructions, around 5:10) and swapped back to the new drive with the repair usb stick plugged in. On the next boot, the computer automatically booted to the repair stick and when the Macrium software loaded, I chose the “Fix windows boot” option and chose the new drive in the drop down menu.

See this for an example of what I am talking about, around 15:40.

After the repair finished. I took out the repair usb stick and rebooted the computer and the new drive worked just like the old one, same everything. (You have to take out the disk, otherwise the computer will keep booting to the repair software.)

I suspect that there is some driver, firmware, or hardware compatibility issue with the Crucial drive since it works only with an enclosure and the old drive still in the computer.
