Razer Blade Stealth (2017) 13" - Stuck at boot screen

I have a Razer Blade Stealth (2017) 13" that gets stuck on the boot screen when trying to start up. I can't enter BIOS, can't start Windows, can't boot from a bootable USB, etc. I had been having some issues with the USB ports not being recognized as USB 3 so while troubleshooting that, I realized there was a newer version of BIOS. I ran the BIOS updater and after prompted to restart, I found myself in my current situation of not being able to boot. I've tried removing the CMOS battery to see if that would reset the BIOS to factory but that didn't work either. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

  • f12 for boot
  • f1/del for bios
  • f9 for recovery ++++ non of them works? ++++ Try external keyboard if non of them works, if any of these options works, lemme know.

Correct, none of them work. The screen where it's frozen has those commands in the upper left corner and the Razer logo in the center. I hadn't thought about trying an external keyboard, but I just tried it and the commands didn't work with an external USB keyboard either. Any other suggestions? Is there any other way to revert the BIOS back to factory? Perhaps a jumper setting or something?

open the back of your notebook. there is 2 batteries one is for bios and another is big one for pc. smaller one is rounded about 1-2 cm. unplug batteries and charger about 10 min, and let it discharge by holding power key about 1 min you need a t3 or t5 driver to open back lead.

also check if you can boot in to "Safe Mode" bcuz if "Fast boot" is enable within windows" you can not boot in to BIOS - Turn off your computer, and then turn it back on. - On your keyboard, immediately press Escape repeatedly until the Startup menu displays. - Press F11 to select System Recovery. - On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot, Advanced options, and then Startup Settings. - You might have to select See more recovery options to display Startup Settings. - Click Restart to restart into the Startup Settings menu. - Press F4 or select Enable Safe Mode to restart Windows using minimal files and drivers.

Thanks, I did this already with a T5 driver. I unclipped the small rounded one whose cables terminate with a white clip that was near the side. Is that the right one? I'm not sure how long, but I did it yesterday before I ran an errand so the battery had to be unplugged for an hour or so. Tried booting with it plugged in again, and tried with the battery unclipped and the computer plugged in, and I'm still getting the same result. I'm just stuck at this same screen. I also tried leaving the computer on to drain the computer battery all the way down but that didn't do anything either. Thanks for your suggestions though! Anything else I should try? ----- Just saw your next post while I was typing a response. I just tried hitting ESC repeatedly while turning on but nothing happened. I haven't found anything I can do to advance beyond this initialization screen:

(Check if you can boot in bios without SSD) Also remove SSD and make a "Windows To Go". you can make it by using rufus (make sure to not insert SSD while using "Windows To GO") >:cool_: just saying: the proper way to Enter to BIOS is spamming F1 asap you pressed power on pc < attachment

Thanks, this is a new one to me! I've never tried that, so I'll give it a shot tonight and report back. I did create a bootable USB using MS Media Creation Tool, but as I didn't remove the SSD, I imagine the BIOS never knew to look for it.

I've done this a gazillion times, but I'm still stuck on the same screen and can't enter BIOS. Thanks again!

but please check your computer without SSD first and see if you are able to press F1 / Del / F9 / F8 /F12 if worked, you just need to manually format your SSD if not then move to RUFUS (Windows To Go) (no need to use MS media creation)

Thanks!!! I hadn't thought of removing the SSD. Once I removed it, boot progressed on to the USB. I disabled Fast Boot in the BIOS (just in case), wiped the drive (everything was backed up) and am currently re-installing Windows. After days of not being able to get past the initialization screen, this is great progress, so thanks for all your help!
