Razer Blade Stealth QHD+ I7 (2017) - fried?

Hi team, My laptop instantly turned off when I plugged in a usb optical drive, which must have been faulty because there was a loud pop! Uncertain whether the sound came from the optical drive or the laptop. In any case the laptop is not powering on as a result, with or without plugged power. The charger seems to be fine though - green light is still on and tested the usb-c on my phone. Questions are: - is the mobo fried? - if not (fingers crossed!), any recommendations to get the laptop working again? Cheers!
