I just received my new Razer Book 13, and I noticed some issues with a metal piece on the internal hinge of the laptop. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar issue?
As you can see, the left side of this piece of metal is slightly dented and has already caused some scratches on the hinge of the laptop. I can foresee with continued opening and closing of the laptop it'll only get more dented and lead to even more scratches. It is a small issue now, but overtime I can only see it getting worse.
I exchanged the laptop for a new one (prompt and wonderful customer support btw), and I am noticing the same issue. Not sure if this is common across all Razer Books. I am concerned that it will continue to get worse with regular usage and cause more serious issues in 6 months to a year.
Is this something to be worried about? The new one is not as extreme as the original, as can be seen below. It only has a very slight dent. But once again, what will it look like in 3-6 months with continued opening and closing.
One thought is that this piece of metal is really only for aesthetics as well, and it may be easier to just remove it. However, my skill levels are nonexistent and would worry that attempting to remove it would cause even more damage/not possible in general.
