Razer Core Chroma - Does it use power when unplugged from laptop/device

Might seem an odd question but my searches can't find the answer - so I have a new Razer Core Chroma (works great), so when unplugged from my MacBook Pro the fan stops and it looks off but still switched on at the back. The question: When in this state is it using any power? Having it switched on at the PSU but inactive until I plug it into my laptop would be great - less on my energy bill and one less thing to switch on :D Thanks to anyone that can confirm this!
