Razer Core X Power Off When Not in Use

Question: Do you need to power off the Razer Core X via the power switch when not in use? Details: I have the Razer Core X hooked up to a 2019 16" MacBook Pro running the latest Catalina (10.15.4). When I put the MacBook to sleep I can still hear the Razer Core X enclosure when I put me ear up to it. Is this bad for the eGPU?
