Hi,

1st thing - I’d try plug it into a different USB port (preferred USB 3.0 or above - plug it directly to the port on motherboard). If this doesn’t help - check different USB->USB-C cable.

I tried to plug in the keyboard into the front of my tower and it still didn’t work. I also had another keyboard plugged in and it made the other keyboard turn off too.

I received a Razer Deathstalker V2 today, and the USB-A to USB-C cable it came with was faulty. When I connected the keyboard using it, I get the same “The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it” errors the OP mentioned. When I used a different USB-C cable, it worked fine. The supplied cable can’t even charge my phone successfully - it also disconnects after a few seconds.

Thanks for this. My DeathStalker v2 stopped working yesterday, but the lights stayed on. Hard reset didn’t work, but swapping the USB cable supplied for a spare one I had lying around did the trick. A shame about the fancy braided cable, but I live without it.

And unlike this user, I wasn’t getting messages about the USB device malfunctioning when it was plugged in.

  • Hey am having an issue where my deathstalker v2 is not responding. LED keys are red. I did the firmware updater and that would only temporarily enable the Update button, just after the keyboard was connected. The button would enable for about.5 seconds, regardless of which side of the cable was connected between my laptop or the keyboard. Is there a way for me to do some sort of factory reset on the keyboard?

  • To clarify, I was able to click the Update button, but the keyboard doesnt stay connected long enough and the Updater cancels. It was also really hot yesterday when these issues first presented, but all USB ports for my mouse and headphones work perfectly fine regardless of which port I put them into. Ports not failing, Cable not failing.. Seems to be an issue inside of the keyboard.

  • I also am not seeing the deathstalker in the Device Manager where I do see the DeathAdder mouse.

Other note is that I remember plugging my usb c from the keyboard into my phone and then telling my computer to do nothing with that… but thought that decision would be specific to my phone, not the usb c cable.

Update:
Factory reset might solve the issue for some.
I found the factory reset tutorial linked below. unplug keyboard, Hold caps and escape, plug in keyboard. My DeathStalker v2 appeared and then disappeared through this process….

UPDATE/Solved! I replaced my USBC cable with a random one from a box and now keyboard is working fine. My guess is that the heat from the laptop yesterday (it really did get so hot!) somehow melted something inside the usb c! Never had that happen before. Good luck out there!

Yup, same thing happened to me with a brand new out of the box cable.

Changed the cable with a something something cable out of some box and it works like a treat.

I encountered the same issue. Brand new from the box, unable to use the keyboard using the original cable in the box. Tried some random cable and it works.
