razer dock 5 ssd not detected

I recently purchased the razer thunderbolt 5 dock mainly for the ssd option. As far as I can tell every port works including the headphone jack. For some reason it won’t detect an installed ssd. I’ve tried 2 different western digital 4tb drives and ordered a Samsung 990 2 tb ssd that also does not work. Nothing shows up in disk management besides the hard drives that are installed inside the laptop
