Razer fix to address Intel RST issue and allow Windows #1903 update?

Okay, I've spent A LOT of time reading, researching, and trying various fixes and workarounds to address the Razer issue that (1) does not allow me to update the Intel RST drivers "platform not supported", and (2) not allowing the Windows #1903 update. I am reluctant to try any more fixes, as the various ones I have seen have not worked for my Razer. The last thing I want to do is mess things up when there might be a simple solution forthcoming.

I have read just one official post on the forums that Razer is working on the issue and a fix. I would like to know:

  • Is Razer working with MS to address this issue and allow Razer laptops to update to #1903?
  • What is the timeframe for this fix (as Windows wants to try the update EVERY time I shut down)!?
  • How will Razer notify us that a fix is in place? Is there somewhere I can check frequently and be sure to see the announcement!?

Looking for some information and I appreciate anything anyone here can provide...

Curious to know how come you can't upgrade. I upgraded yesterday to 1903. All seems to work fine minus the bugs the 1903 comes with.
I upgrade it all then applied the latest bios update after installing 1903

Have you checked the windows update and installed every update available they present to you?
Because for me that was the issue. I had to perform many small updates available before I got the "You are now ready"
Yes, I am up to date with all other updates. Windows says to upgrade the Intel RST drivers, but my Razer (and many of the Razer laptop models) cannot do this... as the Intel RST update stops with a "platform not supported message." Trying to change the name of a system file (one workaround) has worked for some, but not most. there was one post elsewhere on the forums that Razer is aware of the issue and is working with MS on a fix, but I am looking (hoping) to confirm that.

I went through this yesterday with a brand new Razer 15 (mid 2019) - Base it looks to me like the manufacture is using a generic image that includes the iastora.sys even though the base model does not have optane memory only an SSD. To work around this I renamed the iastora.sys file to iastora.sys.old since there is no optane in the base model that needs it and as you cannot update the driver since the intel driver installer will not detect any devices that need the driver and replace the file. BLUF - Razer needs to clean up their image file for the base model so customers don't have problems paying for and installing the Windows 10 Pro upgrade when they need it for either work or school.
I'm glad it worked for you... but I tried the same thing and no such luck. The Windows update will not complete.
Hmm Maybe that is something part of the base model. Because I don't even have the Intel RST installed and it was never installed after initial setup of the blade. Is it really a need to have the RST installed?
I'm using the advanced model from 2018 though.

Hopefully you get a confirmation! Good luck!
I know... I don't have it installed either! But the Windows update thinks it should be there in the Razer and stops when it isn't. And when we try to update it (per Windows instructions) it says the platform isn't supported (because it isn't there). That's why we're looking for a fix!
Have the same issue. So frustrating. My Blade Stealth 13 2019 having the same error and constant reminder from Windows Update. Please fix!!
I found this posted elsewhere... but nothing more and nothing since.

Hey there! Thanks for sharing this link here. Our engineering is still working on a fix and we'll definitely update everyone once it's available. Feel free to send me a PM should you need further assistance.
@Razer.Speedcr0ss any soft ETAs for the official fix?

Hi everyone! Thanks for asking, @ReversePanda. There's no ETA yet for the final fix. However, one user reported that Microsoft is no longer attempting to download 1903 and Windows update has been reverted from his Razer Blade 15 and got a status:

"The Windows 10 May 2019 Update is on its way. Were offering this update to compatible devices, but your device isn't quite ready for it. Once your device is ready, you'll see the update available on this page. There's nothing you need to do at this time".

We still need to verify this to our Support Team. By the way, are guys getting the same message? Please let me know. Your confirmation will greatly help our investigation. Feel free to reply on this thread or send me a PM anytime.

As of last night, Windows was still trying to force an update on my machine. I've not seen a message like this.
@Razer.Speedcr0ss It's not attempting to download - yes. But I'd really like to have the 1903 update available without resolving to hacks. :smile_:
Having the same issue, have tried all suggested fixes.

Model - Blade Stealth i7 8550U

Urgent fix required, these constant "Oh, we're progressing" is pretty poor, I'll be sending this £1000 laptop back if you can't fix as your product is defective.

Hate to be harsh, but it's the truth.

Hey everyone! Thanks for your response. We've forwarded this to our Support Team. We are currently waiting for a fix and its ETA at the moment. We'll get back to you ASAP. We appreciate your patience.
Has there been an official Razer update on this situation? I thought a fix was going to be released by Razer in Aug. or early Sept., but I can't find anything that gives an update. I've tried any and (mostly) all of the proposed fixes mentioned in the community (at least those I know enough to do), but I'm still unable to get the #1903 update. This has been exceedingly frustrating!

Hey there! Please send me a PM. Let's continue from there.
I don't think this laptop even supports RST and Optane whatever it is.
The BIOS is defaulted to ACHI
The Storage controller is already installed.

When I install IntelRST after switching it in the BIOS, nothing changes. The UI on the Intel Rapid Storage application doesn't even show any drives listed at all..

Razer Blade Advanced 15" Early 2019.

Sad to see that all the drivers are not current on this support site as well. Got our money and you're done with us yeah?
