Razer Kiyo Pro Software/Firmware issues. | Razer Insider

I would like to start by saying I received my Razer Kiyo Pro less than 24 hours ago, and I'm yet to be able to use it for more than about 30 minute intervals. I'm looking for anyone who can help me fix some of the issues that I'm having.

So first issue I'm having: I keep getting the error that says "Camera in use by another application." I already checked the support site, I unplugged it, turned off every other application that could be using it, uninstalled razer synapse 3, reinstalled everything, uninstall Kiyo Pro drivers, nothing seems to work. When it loses connection it just seems to randomly connect again whenever it wants.

Second issue I'm having, which is actually worse the than first one: The camera completely stops working and any application that tries to use it crashes/stops responding. Sometimes when I go into razer synapse and try to open up the "Broadcaster" panel, the entire software will stop responding and eventually crash. The same thing happened when I tried to video call in discord, and when I was trying to setup the camera in OBS. There was a point where every application on my computer froze because I was trying to enable the camera and I had to shut my computer off in order to restart it so everything would work again.

Third and last issue: It says I need to update the firmware on my camera, but I can't find the download for the firmware anywhere and when I click the link on the Synapse 3 software it brings me to a support page with no links to the firmware updater download page. I tried looking around on the forums/support pages for a download link, but they've all either been removed from the threads I've seen, or they take me to a download for firmware that's the wrong product.

For the short amount of time that the camera worked, I really liked it. I was impressed with the picture quality, and really enjoyed the super wide angle. However, if I can't get the Camera to work correctly at some point soon I'm most likely going to return it, and try to get something that will actually allow me to use it.
I'm actually here looking for the firmware update myself, @Chiipps, and I'm having the same issue as you. The Synapse application links to a page without any download link. I haven't been able to find it myself yet, but thought I could try and help you with one of the other issues you are facing.

I've found a "solution" to the problem where the camera says it's busy and in use by another application, and if you're on Windows 10 this might be of help:

  • Open your Windows Start Meny

  • Search for "Camera privacy settings"

  • Under Allow apps to access camera, turn the setting to "Off"

  • Optionally unplug and plug in the camera again

  • Turn the Allow apps to access camera setting to "On"

This has worked for me when OBS suddenly won't show the camera, or Synapse says it's busy. Restarting OBS after having done these steps usually turns the camera on again :)

Same as with you, I'm also very impressed with the camera quality, but there are some quirks, like this, that annoys me greatly. For a camera like this, and for this price, I expected better quality of life with the camera to be honest. Sometimes the HDR functionality is clearly off in OBS, when it's turned on in Synapse, and I have to go in there and switch it off and on again for it to work.

Anyway, hope my solution helps!
Thanks for sharing that workaround, @fastUltramarineBlue871.

Hi Chiipps! Thanks for initiating this thread. Our Support Team and devs are aware of the situation. Please send me a PM together with your Razer Synapse 3.0 logs and the device's serial number that starts with "SN" so I can check what's its current firmware version and forward it to our Support Team. Save the files via Google Drive or to any online drive account, then paste the link in your message.
