Razer Kraken Ultimate, sounds seems "hollow" playing Siege | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Hey everyone, just picked up the Kraken Ultimate. For some reason the sounds seem hollow when playing Rainbow Six Siege. Anything vocal is crisp, but the gunshots and other noises seems like I'm listening through a tunnel or filter. I've tried all the preset settings, as well as EQ suggestions from a variety of Youtube videos. I can't get the sound quality even close to my original headset, the Sennheiser PC 323D. Before I return it, is there something I can try to get it sounding pretty good?

Thanks!
Are you using any spatial surround software and/or hardware? (This includes in-game settings)

In my personal experience the software variants tend to make gunshots and some other sounds "tin can-y" ESPECIALLY when combined with hardware or in-game fx, if not, you can maybe try THX Spatial which I hope Razer still gives free codes for with headsets, or see if your sound card has settings you can mess with.

Also make sure you have the headphones set up properly. In windows that would be under "sounds" when clicking on the speaker icon and includes checking "Enable audio enhancements" (I'm pretty sure this is required to get full use of an equalizer) and setting the right default format.

I had some issues setting up my Kraken 7.1 V2 which is analog and therefore pretty complicated for an audiophile noob like me. Adding some bass boosting helped a bit but I had to get modded drivers for my sound card to really enjoy it.

Sorry for the wall of text, if this doesn't help see note and somebody else may be able to help.

Note for the future: Providing system specs and OS and the like helps with finding out if there's a driver or OS issue that might be going on/already known about.

Edit: The Kraken Ultimate seems to have a button to toggle THX spatial, so it would be easy to see if that's the issue by untoggling it and comparing the sound of gunshots in w/e game.

Good luck m8

Thanks for your suggestions. Im not using any other spatial audio software/hardware aside from Razer stuff. I'll give your suggestions a go later tonight and see if some of your tweaks help. I'm hoping I'll get this issue resolved, otherwise I'm going to return them.
