Razer Naga V2 Pro Firmware Update Bricks the Device

Razer Naga V2 Pro Firmware Update Bricks the Device

I was on firmware version v1.3.0.0.

Tried updating to:

  • v2.61.01_r1
  • v3.00.00_r1

In both cases, once the update reaches 99%, the mouse does not turn on again (getting an error that says the mouse is not connected). After this, Windows does not register the mouse at all any more. I have tried this on multiple machines.

I had to hard reset back to v1.3.0.0 (using left + right + middle mouse buttons together) to even get Windows to recognise that a device is input and using the v1.3.0.0 firmware to update.

I know the v3.00.00_r1 firmware update is only a few days old but the issue persists. Please fix this.

Same thing just happened to me.  Except I have a completely unresponsive mouse.  Tried hard reset and it didn’t work.  No light, no charge, and windows doesn’t show any device when plugged in.  I should of just left it alone and not updated.  Between the mouse and charger.. $250 right in the toilet.

I recommend the following workaround:

  1. Unplug both your mouse and wireless dongle. Set your wireless dongle aside. We won’t be using it for this procedure.
  2. Hold left + right + middle mouse buttons simultaneously
  3. Use the USB cable to connect your mouse to the PC whilst holding the above buttons
  4. There is going to be no light and the mouse will not work, but do you hear a prompt in Windows, like a device was added? Do you see a change in your Device Manager, like a device was added? Look at Human Interface Devices in Device Manager. If there is a new entry, you’re in luck and you can factory reset. At this point your mouse will still not work, but you have the opportunity to install the original firmware on it.
  5. Download NagaV2Pro_00A800A7_FirmwareUpdater_v1.03.00_r1.exe and install it.

After trying multiple times, it finally took.  Think I may have been tilting middle mouse button when plugging it in.  Anyways, reset worked and back in action.  Thanks for helping.

Glad you got it working!

I hope Razer solve this issue in a new firmware version though. It’s very stressful seeing your expensive mouse getting bricked with no official workaround.
