Razer Nommo Chroma - Turns off after few seconds | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Hey there,

Hope that everyone is safe in this pandemic !

I bought few days ago the Razer Nommo Chroma and have just set it up. I have connected it to my laptop, and powered it on. As soon as there is any sound to play, it automatically turns off after few seconds from playing the sound. I can turn it back on by pressing on the volume knob, however it will turn off again after few seconds (less than 10).

The Razer Nommo is connected via the USB cable. I have tried connecting the USB cable via a USB Hub (3.0) and directly via the Laptop USB port. My laptop is the Microsoft Surface Book 2 (running Windows 10). I tried uninstalling and re-installing Razer Synapse in vain.

Mind you that if I connect the Razer Nommo via the Audio Auxiliary cable, it won't turn off. I have read one review on Amazon that this behavior occurs if it is connected via a USB Hub ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R39NYCIA4TVI82/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B078H1T9YD ) however in my case it is happening even if connected directly to my Laptop.

Did anyone face such an issue ?

Any help is much appreciated.

Many thanks,
I have the same issue and have raised a support case
Hey there @johndoyle.jd ,

I did the same and here's what I have tried so far based on the proposition of Razer support (posting them here in case it might help someone in the future) :

  • Perform a clean re-install of the Synapse software by following this link : https://support.razer.com/articles/1699349771

  • Re-install audio drivers :

    • Open Device Manager

    • Expand Audio Inputs and Outputs

    • Right click on Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) and click on Uninstall

    • Restart your computer to completely uninstall the drivers. They will be automatically installed after the restart.

  • Make sure the latest firmware is installed on your speakers:

    • Download the firmware v1.03 (it's the latest at the time of writing) : https://dl.razer.com/drivers/Nommo%20Chroma/win/Nommo_Chroma_FirmwareUpdater_v1.03.00_r4.exe

    • Plug the speakers into the USB port and close Synapse 3.0 before starting the update.

    • Run the firmware installer.

    • If the software indicates that you already have the latest firmware, then no actions are required.

    • Press and hold the power button down then click on UPDATE. Keep holding the power button down until the update is completed. Keep holding the power button until the firmware updater completes the process.

    • A confirmation message will come up when the update is complete.

None of the above helped in my case.

Will keep you up-to-date.

Best regards.
