Razer Raiju V3 Pro stick latency

I’ve been using the new Raiju V3 Pro for a few weeks after pre-ordering from Razer UK. Overall it feels like a good controller (despite a bit to big and odd ergonomic decisions), but I’m having some big problems specifically when playing on PS5. Issue seem to be worse on wireless with the dongle than wired, but both still poor.

The issue: the TMR sticks feel really unresponsive/delayed. The latency is some of the worst I have ever seen. This also causes additional issues when aiming with the right stick (R3), the aim will occasionally glitch—it moves in a straight line in the direction I initially push, but continues moving even after I move the stick elsewhere. Then it suddenly snaps back to where the stick currently is. So: the aim lags behind my input; motion isn’t smooth; it jumps in straight lines; makes tracking targets basically impossible.

I have done more in-game tests and research to see if others are having the same issue and it seems they do. Monoru (ものる) a Youtuber did a test and found that while it was responsive and nice on PC (despite the sticks not being perfectly linear) he found serious latency on PS5 measured up to 75.1 on the sticks. This was the worst result he had ever gotten and it the latency certainly feels the worst of any controller I’ve owned.

From others who have complained and received a new controller it seems the issue has not been resolved. So this may be a firmware or hardware issue. It’s a shame because I see good potential (although I would have preferred the Wolverine ergonomics, the back-buttons are fantastic).

So I want to check, are anyone else experiencing similar issues, or know a fix?

The nuclear option is to get a refund and go for another controller. I’ve owned a few pro controllers that would be good contenders without this latency.

“Yeah, you’re definitely not alone — a lot of people are reporting the same PS5 latency issues with the Raiju V3 Pro, especially with the TMR sticks. If you haven’t already, try updating both the controller and the dongle firmware, but most users say it only helps a little. Since replacements aren’t fixing it, it really looks like a firmware-level problem Razer needs to address. If the delay is making games unplayable, a refund might be the most practical option for now.”

Thank you. I’ve checked the app and connected it to my computer. I don’t see any available firmware updates… Hopefully they can find a solution, there is lots to like about the controller but of course the latency is not a sacrifice you can make if you’d like to play competitively

Hi, I have exactly the same problem. I have already replaced the controller with a new one with the idea of a defective piece but unfortunately. I sponsored that it happens to me in games where you have to press several buttons at once. like jump, slide, aim and shoot at that moment it happens most often. When I play a slow game like Resident evil or Silent Hill, I did not register this error. That is why I noticed. That the Dongle or Controller does not have time to receive or send signals. I am solving it somehow with support and trying to be as helpful as possible. To eliminate the problem. If you find a specific situation when this happens, let me know.... Of course, everything works fine for me with the cable. I have tried connecting the Dongle to the back of the PS5 and the latency has decreased... I will try to reset the Dongle and Controller factors, and set the game and controller settings to default. Trial and error. I will give it a try this week, if I don't find anything, I will solve it by refunding the money and waiting for this defect to be fixed.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I’ve been in discussions with support and they’ve reached the conclusion that my controller is defective and asked that I send it in for a replacement.

Unfortunately, having heard feedback from others with the same issue who have received a replacement the issue remained. It makes me concerned I’ll be in the same boat. Someone published test results here: https://gamepadla.com/razer-raiju-v3-pro.html and it seems the latency on the sticks is just extreme on PS5…

The button latency is not so bad, so it may be an issue with the TMR sticks (best guess).

For me the issue happens mostly when playing FPS games (Apex legends) although I’ve also noticed it in games like split fiction, spider-man miles morales etc.

I do press several buttons at the same time, e.g. holding in crouch while aiming, but that should ofc be just fine.

We'll see what happens next. Because it's safe to say that all Razer Raiju V3 users who play on PlayStation have the same problem and will be forced to return the controller. Those who play on PC are fine from what I've read. So there's a lot of pressure on Razer.

Hello, I am having the exact same issue as described.

For the first few days things were totally fine, but starting yesterday my right stick started to wig out really badly when playing Arc Raiders.

Really disappointing to see this is a common problem people are experiencing because I love the controller otherwise.

Do y’all suggest I reach out to Razer support to see if they can send a replacement?

There is no need to ask for a replacement, it is a problem with all the controllers that have been sent, it is a fault in the dongle or the Controller. Either we return all the controllers and they will refund our money and buy another one from another company, or we will wait until they fix it. If it can be fixed remotely.

I have 2 player in my communityn that found the same problem.
playing wired on ps5 is “okay”, no feeling of latency problem
but as soon as they play with the dongle its trash on ps5, very laggy input, and the result on gamepadla showed it.
Razer need to fix it, cause people are buying theis controller for ps5 and the controller is unusable correctly on ps5 wireless.

I did some testing last night and have a theory for why things are messing up.

When I first started playing last night, things seemed to be fine. After a while though the stick issue started up again.

I tried a few different things, but what I found helped the most was unplugging the dongle from the back of the console and moving to one of the ports in the front by using a USB to USB-C converter. After doing that, things ran pretty well perfectly.

my theory is since the PS5 has usb ports on the back, that the dongle is getting overheated by the PS5’s fans, causing it to mess up.

Can some others on this thread test my theory and see if it makes a difference for anyone else?

But don't confuse the ps5 and ps5 pro. The ps5 has 1x USB and 1x USB-c in the front and 2x USB in the back.

anyway, I have a reduction too, but I didn't think of this option, I'll test it today

Definitely. I have a PS5 slim that only has normal usb ports on the back of the console, so that’s why I tried moving up front.

also, when I went to grab the dongle, it was so hot to the touch it almost burned me. If it is getting that hot, I can’t imagine it is doing any good to the internal electronic components.

Please do! I can’t say for sure that it will fix the issue, but with a lot of A/B testing last night, it seemed to be the only thing that made things better (besides plugging the controller into the console directly).

It has all the exhausts actually in the back, which is great that there is a fan in the back, but it's stupid that it blows on the cables, well, directly on the other side, the golden PS5 is a helicopter compared to the PS4.. maybe that's why when I put the Dongle in the back, the keyboard loaded twice instead of the controller. And when the controller loaded, the console tells me that the controller is almost empty even though it is fully charged, so the fault is simply in the dongle.

So I tried it, it's "better" I mean not as frequent. It looks like I'll return the controller and buy it again when the problem is fixed.
