Razer Synapse 3 changes profile when I turn on my computer

Hi there 👋

I tried to find the same problem but couldn't. So I'm posting it here.

I have two profiles: Default and Games.

The Default profile has no apps and no games assigned.
The Games profile has related games to run.

When I launch a game, Synapse successfully switches devices to the Games profile (I have a Viper 8kHz mouse and Kraken V3 HyperSense headphones). When I exit the game, it successfully switches the profile to "Default". No problems here.

The default profile in Synapse is "Default" for both mouse and headphones. For the mouse it is also saved in the built-in memory (only one profile).

And the problem appears at the moment of rebooting or turning on the computer.

When starting the computer, the devices themselves load the profile saved in them, and then Razer Synapse 3 is loaded, which automatically switches the profile of all devices to "Games".

After that you have to wait a few seconds until the application finishes initializing, then click several times on an empty space on the desktop and move the mouse around the screen for a few seconds. This is the only way Synapse will see that there are no games running on your computer and switch the profile to "Default". This is stressful.

I've also tried waiting a few minutes for it to switch to the "Default" profile, but this doesn't happen if you don't touch the mouse.

How can this problem be fixed?

Did this topic help you find an answer to your question?

Exact same problem here. When it loads with wrong profile:

  1. I can press the Win key to open Start menu, it fixes itself and displays it had changed to Default. But yes, you actually need to set focus somehow to Desktop as AndreyHelldar mentioned.

  2. or I can open the Synapse app and I can see the “Default” is selected but it displays wrong colors (and key assigments).
I have to change from it to anything else and change back to Default to activate its settings properly.

Anyway, thank you for this app. Many games would not be playable without it for left-handed me.

So I was able to solve this issue.

  1. Open Synapse, navigate to your default profile.
  2. Bind that profile to C:\Windows\explorer.exe

This ensures when your desktop is loaded or in focus, so is your Default Profile.

I’ve tried the solution of adding C:\Windows\explorer.exe as the “linked game” for my default profile.

It didn’t work. Even though I was nowhere near ANY games, Synapse picks a different profile every few minutes.

I added Opera to the linked games of the default profile, because often I’m in Opera when Synapse switches profiles. No matter, Synapse switches to another profile with a linked game which has NOT BEEN TOUCHED AT ALL.

I have to manually switch to the correct default profile 20, 30, 40 times a day. Synapse just goes into schizophrenia-mode and does what it wants.

Add all other programs you use often to the default profile.
It’s annoying but it works for me.

I did that. Had 8 programs, Every time the mouse pointer left Opera, for example and was only hovering over the desktop, Synapse changed the profile, and wouldn’t change it back when I selected Opera again. I had to go to the Synapse system tray icon to select the correct profile again.

Issue seems to be solved with Synapse4. From my testing, it changes between profiles quickly and reliably. Have one profile without a linked app for default and when switching out of a linked game to any other app, and the switch is immediately recognized and the “default” (un-linked) profile is loaded.

If you want to migrate your Synapse3 profiles to 4 DO NOT uninstall 3 before installing 4.

Follow this link to download Synapse4:
https://www.razer.com/ap-en/synapse-4?srsltid=AfmBOopgNwn_9Eh3BTSSF_yJfH1ygzPHXpu511ztF2Y3V9ojLTsn3QTZ

Install 4 without touching 3.

Follow this link to instructions on how to migrate your profiles from 3 to 4. During migration Synapse3 will be automatically uninstalled.

Enjoy
