Razer Synapse 4 is giving me all sort of random issues that I never had using Synapse 3. I will have issues where my profiles won’t save to my devices. I can’t adjust my lights through Razer Chroma, or anything for that matter. It says that Dynamic Lighting is enabled, but it’s not. All of these things I’ve experienced on Windows 11 24H2 and I can’t get the software to run correctly after the 6th reinstall at least. I’ve honestly lost count at this point, I even just reinstalled windows and it’s still giving me issues. So I am now going to try Synapse 3, if that doesn’t work with a clean install I am going to use a third party software because I am at my last straw at this point.
Maybe it was fake, but it was back in 2022 or 2021 I was contacted by a Razer Support representative because I put in a support ticket about the buggy software that is synapse and how it kept messing up my Razer Chroma. At this point they’re one software. So I recommended splitting them up into separate software. But I referenced my HP Victus that I am currently using to this day, and about how it has a base level of RGB Control and then it has Light Studio to have more functionality. With this laptop the OMEN Gaming Hub software comes without light studio and if you want more control you have to download it separately. But when you download this software, it removes the base control from OMEN Gaming Hub so only light studio has control.
A year or so later, Synapse 4 is launched. I found out, and downloaded it as an update. When I found out that Chroma and Synapse were separated I thought “this is great, exactly what I asked for!” But then instead of letting you control the software through Chroma only when it’s installed there is a slider that breaks the RGB in both apps. In theory you should be able to switch between basic RGB profiles and Chroma Studio. But instead the basic RGB Profiles bug out because it thinks you want to use Windows Dynamic lighting even when it isn’t enabled, and Chroma Studio Flat out doesn’t work the majority of the time. So I uninstalled and reinstalled many times now to get it to function, each time it would function until I restarted the computer and then it would bug out again and cause issues. And this is without Dynamic Lighting, it’s completely disabled. I even tried going into the registry and disabling it there.
In conclusion, Razer Synapse 4 is far worse than Synapse 3 due to some built in software or hardware limitation that the team at Razer is just flat out ignoring because they can’t be arsed enough to care and fix the issue. It should not be that hard for them to make it so that Chroma just takes over lighting entirely once it’s installed. HP did it and their OMEN software is constantly having issues with crashing. And that software isn’t entirely built for my laptop, making it so it has it’s own set of issues, but nothing this bad that it literally breaks functionality of the laptop. I am spending how much for these Razer Products just for them not to work because I installed the software that is supposed to control the peripherals? Over $200? I am going to swap to corsair, because at least they have their shit together.
