Razer Synapse Crashing with "System" Tab

Hello, I've been dealing with this issue since December. I've gone back and forth with Razer Support so many times. I've done a clean re-install twice, tried to repair the files so many times, updated synapse, updated my pc, everything. Nothing seems to work and I'm really frustrated.

I have a Razer Blade 15 2020 Base Model with the Nvidia RTX 2060. Razer Synapse is the only application I can use to adjust the fan, function key usage, and power intake settings for this laptop.

In Razer Synapse there are multiple tabs at the top, one of which is called "System" where I can adjust these settings. Since December this has stopped working. The moment I click the tab, Razer Synapse closes completely, but Razer Central and Razer Synapse Service do not. In event viewer, there are no crash logs to be seen and Razer Synapse says it "Running" in task manager but says it isn't open in Razer Central.

I don't know what caused this, and I'm seriously annoyed with it. Every solution Razer Support gives me does nothing. It's also a huge issue for the fans on this PC now because, for some reason, Razer Synapse decided that the fans need to go full speed regardless of CPU or GPU usage. This doesn't stop until I manually quit every Razer program in Task Manager. It has also clearly taken a toll on the fans because the right fan now has a constant grinding noise no matter the speed.

Here for example the german version of first level support, it may help you:

https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1708/track/AvN2jQonDv8Q~ViXGgAe~yL3brcqYi75Mv_O~zj~PP9H
Tried all of that. It didn't work. What's next?

Something in System is breaking it. I reinstalled all of my devices. I reinstalled Synapse multiple times. Ah!

Curious, before it "broke" were you playing w/ the Optimus setting? I had. Now it won't open.
Also experiencing these issues. 100% fan speed, "System" Tab crashes the program, LED charging indicator is never lit.
I have tried all their stock responses like Repairing, Uninstall/Reinstall, deleting all profiles and using guest profile, etc. None of it fixes the problem.
I have a Razer Blade 15 (RZ09-03286), Windows 10 Pro.

This is a very annoying issue, to the point where I am considering exchanging the laptop for another brand.

Hi there! Thanks for initiating this thread. Please send me a PM together with your previous case number so I can review it.

Hey everyone! Have you also checked the Razer Synapse settings under Windows services? If you haven't yet, Thanks for the follow-up. Please right-click the start button at the bottom left and type "Services.msc". Ensure that all Razer services status is "Started" and the startup type" is set to "Automatic". Use CTRL + F, and type "Razer" to sort all Razer-related services. Also, check the system files by executing the System File Check (SFC) tool. It will scan all protected system files and repair missing or corrupted files. Please follow the steps below:

  • Press Windows key and X at the same time.
  • Choose Command Prompt (Admin) from the context menu.
  • In the command prompt, type sfc /scannow and hit Enter.
  • Exit command prompt.
Hi,
I checked the services, I also ran sfc /scannow as Administrator. All services were running except for one named "Razer Chroma SDK Server" (see attached for the list of services), and the scan reported that it "did not find any integrity violations."
Synapse is still crashing for me on the Services tab.

Thanks for looking into it! I tried both and it's still crashing. All processes were running.

Same here... all services are running as expected. Just missing any "Chroma SDK...", it is not running.
I also tried to scan the system files, everything was 100% fine.

One of the respondents asked for Nvidia Optimus, what about that? How to disable it?

I also have another response from the german Razer support, i try to figure out whether it helps me out, and afterwards will let you guys know.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll update your case and wait for the results. Please update this thread or send me a PM.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the follow-up. What options you have when you right-click the Razer Chroma SDK services? If it's not giving out an option I've mentioned above, please send me your Razer Synapse 3.0 logs by following the steps on this link. Save the file via Google Drive or to any online drive, then paste the link in your PM. Let's continue our conversation there.
Hello, this is what I see:

on my rig there is no "Razer Chroma SDK Service" running...

@Razer.Speedcr0ss - will send you PM with my razer synapse3 logs
I'm curious, has anyone tried to format their PC to fix and it's failed?

@daJay187 have you?
HEY ALLLL! FYI. I received the Windows update 20H2 today and it solved the issue. Phew, was about to format the PC today. Hope yall get it fixed!
I'm having the same issue as well on my Razer Blade 15 Base 3060. Tried everything and nothing is working...

There must be a solution without formatting or restoring factory defaults. What would be, if this won't work? Who does pay for my hours formatting and reinstalling the system - especially when the problem afterwards would not be solved?

Sounds good. I am still not receiving the new Windows Update, trying for weeks to get it cause I also thougt this could be a solution. Is there a way to accelerate the distribution of the new 20H2?

Thanks and best from southern part of Hamburg, Germany

FYI - I installed the 20H2 update last week after I purchased my laptop and I believe that is what started causing the issue. It was not like this out of the box.
