Razer Tartarus Pro locked issues

Hi there! So my Razer Tartarus Pro would occasionally lock up. I have my WASD inputs keybound to the thumbstick and had that working for years. When I play a game like Marvel rivals, periodically, it would try to pull me to the left or “W” and keep pulling me that direction for about 10 seconds. Afterwards, it would go back to normal. This happens repeatedly. What should I do?

When it does that can you make it stop by pushing the same key again? It sounds like you have bad switches. My first switch went out at 26 months. I repair this myself by soldering in a new switch.

Good luck!

Hi! Hmm, I didn’t think of that. Question: Was the switch you replaced the regular 19-key switches or the thumbstick? The issue I have is with the thumbstick part.

The dpad is what goes. I have been through 4 Tartarus v2 since 2017/18 because of this exact issue. Bought one. RMA. Repair. Bought a second. Did RMA. Repaired. These all went at 11 to 13 months. I tried to repair them as much as possible ended up breaking the PCB. Bought a Tartarus pro. Had the first switch go bad at 26 months. This is much easier to repair too. Larger holes in the PCB.

I thought about making a big deal of this and how the older versions had membrane dpad and did not have this issue. Because of the performance difference between these switches and membrane keys I would rather replace these style switches when necessary.

If you have scroll wheel issues just clean the wheel with isopropyl it will come back. Just had to do mine for the second time. I have had this device for almost 3 years now. The pro version definitely lasts longer.

Just for context I have 4000 hours in Apex Legends and 6000 hours in PUBG. All hours were played with a Tartarus!

I tried to find what replacement switches I got but I can not. Sorry. I bought a cheap 10 pack back in 2019? I still have 5 but I just noticed another switch going out. It seems to start as it feels softer to press. Then it starts phantom pressing. Then it just quits all together. I measured the switch body and the post distance and got random replacement switches with matching measurements. Sorry I can't help more. I tried and tried to figure out where I got them. The job itself is easy and I have even done a replacement mid PUBG match because my brother was playing with me.

Just for my records I did an omron switch 4.8mm x 8.6 normally open with a post distance of 5mm.
