Razer Tartarus V2 controller D-pad sticking / glitch

Userlevel 1
so while using the Tartarus V2, the d pad sticks and you keep moving in one direction till u press the same direction again. I know a lot of people have this problem while looking through the forums and the one solution is to delete razer synaps. but unfortunately I use a lot of razer products and that's the best way to match and customize RGB. so its either I deal with that annoying glitch and have cool colors and effects. or i delete synaps and don't deal with that glitch but now half my RGB features are useless. I was hoping to bring this back to the attention of the developers to see if u can make a small patch for synaps so the people who use the Tartarus can enjoy there gaming and RGB lights at the same time. Please and thank you.

It is probably the same version being redistributed at a later date. Mine showed up as being released on 24th March.

I had an Synapse 3 update on March 21, and this time Razer Updater show message that my device will not work during the update, I do not know if it is a Tartarus update or an additional Synapse module, but I received some update today.

Today there was another update, this time probably Tartarus itself, because the Synapse 3 version is the same, but I don't know how to check the firmware versions.
I will test in the evening in games to see if anything has changed.

@WhiteFox935 rewsad works but not fully, you cant bind wheel and control rgb

Hmmm, ok, thanks. But a useless wheel is better then a useless D-Pad 🙂 I'll try it, tanks.
No update today. But I'm in Germany and I think that updates for German systems will be online some days later.

I am from Poland.
All of this confusion could be avoided if we had some communication from Razer. It looks like they are ignoring this issue for the most part. If they would just aknoweldge it and provide updates on where they are with a fix, that would do much. But instead we are all left to speculation.
What version for Razer Central do you have? I have 7.3.32.173
Same here - 7.3.32.173 Central and 3.6.331.31613 Synapse - but got an update yesterday because of LED control issues after the update before. The version numbers did not change with the update. Seems like that these "quick patches" do not change the version number.
Hi everyone,

I just received word from Razer Support team that came with a peculiar instructions from the dev team.

Can everyone try running Synapse Software with the chroma setting to Static Green option, and turn the brightness down to 0 to see if it still produces the same issue? I remember doing this before early last year, but it would be great to see others do the same troubleshooting steps. (I did it before I was handed down this info just now, because I thought it would be something to do with Chroma itself.)
Will try it later... In the meanwhile I got THIS answer - and don‘t know if I should lough or cry... It is the THIRD ticket and I referenced both in the new ticket. Does Razer call it support? Really?

Thank you for contacting Razer Tech Support. My name is Christian, and I will be glad to assist you today.

I understand that your Tartarus V2 is often hung up in every game. We apologized for the inconvenience this has caused you. Rest assured we will work on this closely and isolate the issue as soon as possible.

Please help us understand the issue.

  • When does the problem first appear?

  • Will any changes be made to your system / device before the problem arises?

  • Have you recently received and installed Windows updates?

  • Did there be any incidents with your keyboard before the problem?

  • Is there any visible physical damage to the device? D. h. Cracks, cable salad, free-standing wire, etc.?

  • Does this problem occur when you are wireless or wired?

While we wait for your reply, here are some basic troubleshooting steps you can take from your site.

1. Make sure that the keyboard / USB dongles are connected directly to your computer and not to a USB hub.
2. Attempt to connect the computer to another USB port or PC.
3. Make sure the USB drivers are up to date.
4. Disable the Razer Synapse and see if the problem persists.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
I am so angry at the moment... There is no intention to help the customer.

I am considering to write to some IT magazines. Hopefully they could warn other people who want to buy Razer products.

As I could read on Github, Razer has still some more bugs in Synapse regarding LED sync with ASUS Aura. At the moment my Razer environment is useless trash I‘ve payed much time and money for.

So the chroma setting is causing the key's to 'stick'? Sounds like we are mixing issues here, unless someone is suggesting the color LED setting is causing issues with key input mapping and input sticking.

Gave a friend my Tartarus V2 I got back from RMA. He does not use Chroma Studio and has no other LED related devices or other Razer devices. He has no issues. Indeed, I was wondering too, if the "LED software controller" could disturb the key input mappings - you don't have to forget that the devices do only have one USB controller for LED and key mappings. Nevertheless it seems to be a software related issue (e.g. driver, Synapse / Chroma, firmware...).

Weeks ago I asked Razor if they need ANY further logs, debug logs, testing, with LED, without LED, without ASUS Aura Sync etc... but did never get an answer.

I've tested within the last hour and did NOT have the issue, that the D-Pad / analogue stick was stucked! I've tested with solid green and brightness 0, solid blue and brightness 100 and with Chroma Studio Fire effect (one of my default profiles). But as we all know the issue might occure one time in an hour as well as one time in 30 seconds... ASUS Aura sync is "off" too in the moment - because it's still broken or switched off by software (maybe because of these problems).

But that is something, what would be interesting as well... Who of you is using the LED controlling feature and are you using Chroma Studio and third party integrations, like HUE, ASUS or MSI? Does the issue occure WITHOUT LED controlling?
I am not using the Chroma Studio stuff. Just the basic Synapse to map keys on Tartarus Pro. I have the stuck key issue.
One positive post today about Razer... Some days ago they broke the Chroma Studio profile functions, after a quick fix the ASUS Aura integration as well and today, yes, thanks Razer, profiles and ASUS Aura integration ist working again... The communication was friendly and transparent. Nice 🙂
I don't know what the update was for, but it didn't help.
Just wanted to throw my hat in the ring too. I just got a huntsman v2 analog a few days ago, and it has been sticking constantly. I will be walking in a direction, try and change, the a or d key will still be held down.
I then have to tap the key again to regain control. Also I have noticed that apex legends crashes every hour now since I have had the keyboard. Pity, I really like the feel of the keyboard, but the software seems to be letting it down.

Freshly installed synaps 3.
Using basic keyboard input not a gamepad or joystick interpolation.

Razer dev team from Support is suggesting to change it to static green with 0 brightness, with or without Chroma Studio api. (Aka, no cycling of colors)

Yes, it is a software issue, but a troubleshoot nevertheless for them to check.
Hey, I wanted to buy Razer Tartarus Pro but I see a lot of post like this on reddit and this support page - is this issue is wide spread or is it problem with individual units? Do you think its still worth to buy guys?

Wide spread. In my opinion, wait.

I've testet two Tartarus V2 and one Pro, all with same problem... I wouldn't buy another one atm 😉
Thanks guys - I will look into other options then. Its a shame that this super cool idea was wasted - sticking button is deal breaker but I did read that Tartarus have also other problems - like analog working only to a half of the button (so double action is not practical) and when is used as analog linear input its not linear and unusable.

Hope that Razer will fix it in v3 or something - I wanted to buy full setup with 60%-keyboard and mouse to have single software.

It really is a shame. The hardware seems to be very well constructed and fits exactly what I needed. If only the software were as good. I agree that you should wait until this software issue gets fixed, if it ever does.

I don't mind some honest troubleshooting, but would hope that a Razer rep would come in and tell the group here themselves.
Well that did not take long. Reinstalled Synapse. Turend on Green at 0 brightness. 30 min into game, and input stuck. Color me surprised. (pun and sarcasm intended)
