Razer Tartarus V2 controller D-pad sticking / glitch | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
so while using the Tartarus V2, the d pad sticks and you keep moving in one direction till u press the same direction again. I know a lot of people have this problem while looking through the forums and the one solution is to delete razer synaps. but unfortunately I use a lot of razer products and that's the best way to match and customize RGB. so its either I deal with that annoying glitch and have cool colors and effects. or i delete synaps and don't deal with that glitch but now half my RGB features are useless. I was hoping to bring this back to the attention of the developers to see if u can make a small patch for synaps so the people who use the Tartarus can enjoy there gaming and RGB lights at the same time. Please and thank you.
Hello guys!

So, did this last Synapse update really kill this bug for Tartarus V2 and Pro?

Thanks! \\o
I can confirm I still have sticky keys on the latest update. I applied the patch over the update and will see if that fixes the issue.
We need to test more, there were already solutions that for some strange reason worked for a few weeks, and then the problem kept coming back.
mmmmm paying a premium price for this and having all these issues definitely has put me off from this product, thanks all for all the feedback.

I was looking to buy the Tartarus Pro, and I imediatelly ran away after know this situation. This kind of problem is commonlly made by Razer, they just ignore the facts and keep selling the product, even with a big issue like this from Tartarus that persist since it's lauch (2019).
i want to update that i've never face any stick key problem since my last post (Oct 17 2021), not even once. hopefully this is actually the fix people have been waiting for long time lol
So yesterday I took out my tartarus from its box and give it another try with the synapse update.

I played 2 hours of DeepRockGalactic which was exhibiting the issue rather quickly and did not see the problem occured.

Note that since my last test, almost all my hardware has changed (CPU,MB,USB HUB) and I updated to Win11 + synapse updates.

Need more testing I think before calling this a bugfix
Reinstalled synapse to test, worked for a few days with no errors, synapse did an update after a reboot and issue returned. Back to rewasd for me. (multiple tartarus v2, stuck direction pad)
“Hyperesponse thumb button” still has the sticking problem.

Rest of the button is just fine for 2 weeks now.
Hey Guys!

Tartarus v2, Naga Trinity, Black widow chrome v2, and Nari Ultimate running on Synapse 3.6.1130(most recent update for me)

Spent a while reading through this post trying to get my sticky keys issue to stop, and no dice. What I've observed is it seems to happen when I'm holding down a key on the Naga Trin('=' for discord push to talk) while moving in game(WSAD) on the Tartarus. Tried changing the push to talk keybind to other innocuous keys like the ' and \\ keys, but experienced the same issue.

I haven't tried the 3rd party app mentioned(reWSAD i think), but may have to give it a try. Have been dealing with the issue, like many of yall, since the Tartarus was purchased. I can't recall the issue occurring on my old Orbweaver.

I hope this helps with the tshooting Razer!
Hi All, I purchased my original Tartarus V2 Mecha-Membrane back in 2017. Served me extremely well but is now looking very tired. 12 months ago I bought the latest version as a replacement. Lo and behold, this had the sticky key issue! Right where I map WASD (08, 12, 13,14). I tried getting a replacement but same issue. Obviously nothing wrong with the hardware so must be the software I guess. I did try a few hacks, such as recreate my Razer Synapsis profile but no luck. I have quite a few other Razer peripherals so using 3rd party software is very undesirable.

12 months on and again I am still very keen to replace/ update my keypad! Not much appears to have changed or come out to market since. Is it at all worth me taking a punt on the Tartarus "Pro" edition? Or am I all but guaranteed to have the same sticky keys issue as it's same generation as the Mecha-Membrane models I had to sent back last year?

Fascinating that my original Tartarus Mecha-Membrane from 2017 performs flawlessly but the recent edition appears so broke..

Thanks.
I have the naga trinity and the tartarus v2, both of them still get the stuck key / multiple entry bug. Also, occasionally, my sensitivity will spike to ridiculous levels for absolutely no reason.

The second I have another gamepad option with a thumbstick I'm gonna drop all my razer stuff like the steaming pile it has turned out to be. Tartarus v1 was excellent, synapse is garbage.

Edit: naga trinity not naga pro.
Hello.

Sorry for the google translator.

I want to tell my story. I don't play much. I should really like the game. Therefore, a very small sample provided an interesting observation. I play one game for a very long time. Full immersion (six hundred hours in the Starbase ship editor).

I have been using Tartarus V2 Chroma for one year. I bought it for Elite Dungerous. I have looked now my libraries on Steam, Epic and Gog and could not find what else I played this year.

Later I gave up Elite and started playing Starbase. I didn't have any sticky buttons. I only learned about this from reviews. I wanted to give myself the Pro version for the new year.

Reviews have discouraged me. Pulled the loud springs out of the V2 and was pleased. And gave myself The Riftbreaker and almost abandoned Starbase (this is important).

Then I reinstalled Windows and the problems started. I was shocked. Horrified. I enjoyed sticking to the fullest. I scolded Razer. Clean operating system. All advice to fix the problem is nonsense.

Before that, everything worked. Reinstalled the system and everything broke. Clean up the registry? Seriously? I was angry.

Then, I noticed that WASD does not work well in Riftbreaker. This is important for 2.5D. I couldn't run diagonally. Often I could not even move straight the first time. It interested me. I remembered that I ran Starbase for a short time and there were no problems.

Today I spent two hours in the Starbase ship editor and not a single stuck. Compared to the horror in Riftbreaker. If 99% of games are sticky, why does Starbase work fine? Is this the secret? Application work with the keyboard.

I'll have some tea and try Cyberpunk 2077. I'll write the result later.
No problem in Cyberpunk 2077.

no they are not clicky, but they have a constant resistance. Clicky keys have absolutely no resistance, then bump, then nothing again. The analog keys feel like they are sprung (which i guess they are).

Clicky would not work for analog keys since you can change the actuation point.

Good afternoon. I ordered Tartatus Pro and are interested in analog switches. Do they work as promised by the manufacturer, or are you not using pressure?

I am using Tartarus V2 Chroma. But I've read reviews of the Pro version. You won't be able to use buttons like little joysticks. Very short stroke. And the buttons are very easy to press. They are triggered by touch. And I love when the hand is on the buttons.
I bought mine about a week or 2 ago from Amazon. started having this problem just a few hours out of the box...

Have tried the fixes suggested in this thread but no luck, so I've opened a support ticket to see if anyone can help.

Been using it for FF XIV and its great in terms of key mapping, but its pretty annoying to die due to the input sticking down and not being able to control my movement, especially since the pad is brand new...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Hey guys, I am thinking of getting the tartartus pro. Just wanted to ask if the sticky key issue has been fixed yet?
Cant say for certain about the tartarus, but I was having the exact same issue with my huntsman and it was solved with a synapse update designed to solve that exact issue quite some time ago.

I've played Elden Ring for 50 hours and everything works fine for me.
It 100% still has sticking keys issue; and it's 100% synapse fault, not the hardware.

Happens all the time in Destiny 2.

i can verify this, i use the directional thumbstick for jump and barricade/well/dodge and my keys doubleclick or stick all the time. latest version and i have a tartarus pro that i got new in september to replace an orbweaver that was doing the same thing!
I have had this issue with the dpad sticking at random moments for a while and ended up uninstalling synapse and using a different program for the keybinds. I wish razer would figure this out as I several devices that lose some features so I can make the tartarus work reliably.
Hi! Joining the club with my Tartarus V2. Bought it last year because my G13 was getting old (ironically, it was showing the very same problem with the joystick, but it was likely a hardware issue due to time wear).

At first, the bug didn't occur very often, but it got worse over time, and lately it's unbearable.

Reading this thread I'm convinced an official solution will never come, so I'll take the rewasd way.

My major regret it's that, back then, I thought it was nice to have all the devices work under the same ecosystem, so along with the pad I got a keyboard (Ornata V2), mouse (Naga Pro) and headset (Nari Ultimate).

The keyboard it's not a problem since I use it just for typing, and I'll swap back the Naga for my (almost new) Logitech G600 and enjoy the extra button. I just hope I won't lose many functionality on the Nari by uninstalling Synapse.

It would be "great" if there was a way to exclude specific devices from Synapse... honestly, after all this it would be the least Razer could do for us.
If you use rewasd make sure you use the programmable mouse and then you can change all the keys and the scroll wheel as well.
