Razer Viper V4 Pro phantom movement bug?

I've been experiencing a strange issue with my Viper V4 Pro and I'm wondering if anyone else has seen something similar.

The problem

After moving the mouse and then leaving it completely still, there seems to be a 5-10% chance that the mouse enters some kind of bugged state.

Once it happens:

  • The wireless dongle never goes to sleep.
  • Windows thinks there is constant activity, so the monitor never turns off automatically.
  • If I'm watching a fullscreen video with the cursor hidden, the cursor pops up every few seconds.
  • The issue persists indefinitely until I move the mouse again.

Interestingly, if the bug does NOT occur after I stop moving the mouse, everything works normally and the mouse can stay idle for hours without triggering it.

Reproduction pattern

Every "move → stop" cycle is basically a new attempt:

  • Move the mouse.
  • Stop moving.
  • About 90-95% of the time everything is normal.
  • About 5-10% of the time the mouse enters this weird state.
  • Once it enters the state, it remains there forever until I move the mouse again.

So it doesn't randomly start while sitting idle. It only seems to happen immediately after movement stops.

What I observe

The behavior makes me suspect that the sensor or firmware might be continuously reporting tiny ΔX/ΔY values, causing Windows to think there is constant mouse activity.

The cursor itself doesn't visibly drift, but:

  • Monitor sleep is prevented.
  • The dongle stays awake.
  • Hidden cursors in fullscreen videos periodically reappear.

Ffs, fix your mouse! It burns my OLED every night!

**Device:** Razer Viper V4 Pro
- Mouse S/N: PM2615H37706648
- Dongle S/N: PM2615U19707031
- Connection: wireless, HyperPolling dongle (USB VID_1532 PID_00E6)
- Firmware: mouse 1.4.1.0, dongle 1.4.1.0. This is the latest; Synapse offers no update. The unit was first set up on 28 Sep 2026 with 1.1.1.0, and the issue persists on 1.4.1.0.
- Synapse 4.0.823. Polling rate 1000 Hz, 3200 DPI, Smart Tracking symmetric (default).

**OS:** Windows 11 Pro, build 10.0.26200 (x64)

**Problem:**
When the mouse sits untouched on the desk, it keeps sending tiny movement reports. Windows treats them as user activity, so the display never turns off.

**Evidence (raw input log, mouse untouched, PC locked):**
- 18 Oct 2026, 03:20:26–03:23:44 (3 min 17 s): 111 movement reports from the mouse interface (MI_00).
- Every report is ±1 count on a single axis, e.g. (+0,−1), (−1,+0), (+1,+0), arriving every 1–3 seconds.
- No clicks, no wheel.
- The monitor is set to turn off after 1 minute when locked. It stayed on the whole time.

**Steps to reproduce:**
1. Move the mouse, then let go and leave it on the pad.
2. Lock the PC (Win+L) and wait more than 1 minute.
3. The display does not turn off. A raw input monitor shows a stream of ±1 count movements.

**Expected:** no movement reports while the mouse is at rest.
