Hello there!
I’m having a lot of performance issues with my RB 17 for the last couple of weeks, tried multiple fixes, factory reset, drivers, cleaning fans and changing thermal paste (Which was necessary after a full year) and slowly been reducing the causes so i just want to share the current situation before making a wrong choice.
Right now i’m having a ton of issues while gaming, thermal throttle causes HEAVY performance issues, and recently i noticed the temperatures of the laptop dont go below 90°c while IDLE, right now as im writing this post is at 100°c on HWiNFO.
I have turned off most of the High performance options, reset to default most of the GPU and CPU settings and my i9 is running at 6 cores in msconfig right now.
When i take the power supply off, it suddenly drops to around 65° and it comes back up as soon as i plug it again.
Read that it might be caused by a faulty power supply, but im not sure if buying one will fix my issue.
Also, it powers off after loading shaders in certain games (Again, only while power supply is plugged in) and been having those random power offs even while watching videos. Of course if it stays idle at 90+ degrees i’d expect it to just shut down due to thermal issues while gaming, so i’m unable to properly play games right now.
This happens with the CPU temp and not much on the GPU, specially after the thermal paste change.
I’d be happy if anyone can help me on this, or advice if i definetively need a new power supply, if so, please recommend me one as i’m not willing to pay 200$ for another charger that might fail after a year.
