Razor Blade Advanced 15 (2021) high pitched fan noise | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
I just received my new Razer laptop yesterday from Amazon. I ordered the highest end model with the 3080 16gb vram 4K OLED screen. I absolutely fell in love with the machine other than the high pitch screaming fans. It’s so loud it bothers people over the phone and the pets in the house. Even outside of Windows booting up its extremely loud. I’ve owned the 2018 and 2019 models of the same laptop but the fins on the coolers are different. You can see through the bottom fan grills the blades on the fans are different, more dense. I’m currently on the fence of returning laptop at the moment as it is almost unusable without noise canceling headphones. I know gaming laptops are loud but this is headache causing ear piercing loud. There are no good reviews of this current model so I took a chance and am very disappointed. It’s not driver related it’s design related either tight fin stack on heat sink or fan blade design.

Hi there! Thanks for generating this thread. That noise coming from the laptop is odd and alarming. Please send me the following so I can forward it to our Support Team and devs:

a. Screenshot of System Information (Hit Windows+R to open the Run box. Type “msinfo32” into the “Open” field, and then hit Enter.)

b. Screenshot of Windows version (Hit Windows + R. Open the Run box with then type winver)

c. Screenshot of Synapse version (Click the gear/cog icon at the top right. For Synapse 3.0, click “About”).

d. Screenshot of Nvidia/Intel Driver Version: (Press Windows+R on your keyboard. Type in DXDIAG into the run command text box and hit OK. Then click on YES. Click on the Display 2 tab and look for the Nvidia version on the right side.)

e. Synapse 3.0 logs.

f. Screenshot of the BIOS main tab.

g. A video showing the issue. Ensure to place the recording device near the source of the noise so the team can determine if it's a possible fan or a coil whining issue.

Save the compressed files via Google Drive or any online drive account, then paste the link in your PM. Let's continue from there.
I have the same problem and it is super disappointing. The computer is almost unusable as the noise is very irritating and causes ringing in my ears over time.

Thanks for sharing. Were you able to submit a case to our Support Team? If you haven't, please click this link or send me a PM.
I decided to go ahead and open up the laptop and made the modifications described in the post Razer Insider | Forum - Razer Blade 15 Advanced (2021) RTX 3080 fan whine.

The noise is reduced substantially, not all the way gone but 90% or so to the point where it's not really an issue.
