Razor Keyboard flakes out with KVM switches | Razer Insider

I tried to search but since KVM isn't long enough for a search term, I tried KVM sticking, KVM switch, etc. and I only get results for the second word. So if this is repetitive, I apologize. I also posted in the Keyboard forum.

Bottom line, I am currently using a Huntsman. I don't remember the model of my last Razor keyboard. I had the same issue with that last one that I do with this one. I thought it was the keyboard so I tossed it and bought new. This has also happened with multiple KVM switches.

I have my personal PC and my work laptop connected to a KVM switch so I can use same mouse/keyboard/dual monitors. When I switch to my work laptop (can't install Razor software), the keyboard works like a keyboard. When I switch back to my personal PC, it freezes, sticks on a key, acts sluggish. Sometimes unplugging it will work, but only for a short time. Ultimately I need to reboot my personal PC. But as soon as I KVM to work, the problem resurfaces.

I tried my son's Logitech keyboard several times. It doesn't happen.

I love the Razor product line. I'd much rather have a fix than give up.

This has happened on multiple computers (win 10 and 11) with two different KVM switches and two different Razor keyboards.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
I'm having the exact same issue as you. Only difference is that my keyboard/mouse seem to flake out a little less often. I have a huntsman elite and just upgraded to a Death Adder V2. This is my first day working from home since I upgraded the mouse from the 2013 Death Adder, and the problem has gotten much worse. It has to have something to do with the Razer software. My work computer, which I don't have the Razer software on, always seems to work, but my personal PC, the one with Synapse installed, is the one that craps out.

Razer's answer in another thread of "it must be your kvm because the keyboard works when you plug it directly in to the computer LOL" is garbage. Maybe you should design your product to be compatible with common peripherals. Seems like my work around for now is uninstalling Synapse.

On a tangentially related note: I have always wondered why, in 2022, a keyboard/mouse driver update would require a whole system restart. And why, knowing this, a company would update their product so frequently. Seems like every time I power cycle there's a new Razer update. The last one installs and the new one downloads and asks for a restart. I haven't ever noticed a difference in functionality either. Just seems unnecessarily disruptive.
Wow. You read my mind on every single point of your reply.

I'm going to uninstall Synapse and see if that works. If it does - shame on Razer for pushing subpar software and drivers.

And agree with that damn restarts. Unnecessary.
I tried uninstalling Synapse but that didn't help. Any other suggestions?
