ROG PG278Q issue on Razer Blade 2018

Having an issue getting my Razer Blade 2018 to output an image to my external monitor over the Display port. ie it wont. Have tried numerous cables which I know to be working. The external display is an ASUS ROG PG278Q which also is working fine. The monitor appears in the intel gpu control panel and also the nvidia control panel, but no matter which resolution, refresh rate etc. no image appears. Have also tried basics such as changing between mirrored, spanned, display 2 only etc.

Laptop is the 2018 Razer blade advanced with 144hz 1080p monitor and the 1070 max q GPU.

I also have a tv which works fine plugged into the hdmi port (unfortuantely the PG278q only has Display port input) Both NVIDIA drivers and intel drivers updated to latest versions. Bios up to date, windows 10 home very latest edition and updated. I have also tried rolling back drivers to the ones on the razer website which are outdated but worth a go, also to no avail.

Incidentally, of note there appears to be an issue circulating on youtube about this model of the razer blade where the screen turns black and the green light starts flashing, I actually encountered this whilst troubleshooting my problem which turned out to be fairly easy to fix (by pressing the 'windows key' and 'p') the external monitor which may or may not be present can be disabled as the only monitor output.
