i noticed connection issues yesterday when running it wired to the pc, so i had to re connect it and only use it via Bluetooth. i then plugged it in last night after using it and went to bed as usual. when i woke up today i went to unplug the mouse to use it and turn it on when i noticed a funny burning plastic smell, i was looking around my desk for the smell. i grabbed the mouse and tried pulling the cord out and to my surprise, a trail of molten plastic came along with the wire and burnt my arm some. i noticed the mouse was extremely warm near the front of the mouse on the top and bottom (i did not touch the liquid plastic for obvious reasons) and looking furthermore i saw the usb-c connector lodged inside still. i grabbed a pair of electrical wire strippers with teeth on the end that were insulated to make sure i didn't get shocked or something and removed the connector. hoping that there was some way i could still preserve the mouse as they are about $150 (or were when i got it). further inspection showed that the bottom itself was warped and the entire usb-c plugin port had shifted and is no longer useable, it turned on but the scroll wheel is partially melted and doesn't spin without resistance. so the mouse is no longer useable as i do not intend on trying to plug it back in as that could have been very dangerous had i not checked my computer in the morning and just gone to work.
i think i have owned this mouse for just over a year and clean and maintain it rather often. i think it is also important to note that i use this usb-c cable daily to charge my phone, the mouse occasionally, and many other devices that use usb-c, and i have no indication that anything is/was wrong with the cord itself.
i wanted to send an email to razer to see if my warranty was still active, but i don't have the receipts anymore. if not that than to inform them of such a malfunction that could have been dangerous. i am not sure what assistance they could offer at the end of the day, but i thought i would post this and see what sort of a response i get. i really liked the mouse and it sucks that this happened.
any and all help is appreciated, otherwise just be cautious charging these overnight if you have noticed any sort of connection issues recently.
