SD card detection issues on Blade 15

After a fresh restart, I can detect/read/write a microSD card through a usb reader. Once I eject/remove the reader, the system cannot detect the card again when I reinsert. I have to restart again to detect the card. I have tried multiple card readers, reformatted the card, tried multiple usb ports, re-installed drivers. No change in behavior. This was not an issue until recently, but I can't pinpoint if it started after a system update. I'm stumped. Any ideas? Razer Blade 15 2019 Base
